Can I use my UK food hygiene certificate in Tenerife or do I need a Spanish one?

Hi
i am moving out in early sep for a year. anyone know if the food hygiene cert that is needed in the uk can also be used to work in a kitchen in tenerife? or do you still need to obtain the spanish eqv before they let you in a kitchen?
be great to hear frm someone who knows.

As far as I know th UK one does not apply to here, also I think it is you employers obligation to make sure you go on the Spanish course and they have to pay for it! Could be wrong, if I am I will be corrected I'm sure!!!

I know of one place that makes you pay for it yourself.

Hi!....Any certificates you have that have been obtained in the UK don´t mean a black dap out here......You will need to attend a course here...I did, and did not understand a word of it!!! as it was 100% Spanish...I did get my little certifiacte though with my photo on....so do not worry they are easy to come by and I´m sure it only cost me 13 euros 4 years ago..

thanks for the info

thanks for all the replies...I am now quietly confident I can get some sort of kitchen job without having it straight away, which is the main thing when I get out there in sep.
