Question We are thinking of moving to Tenerife from mainland Spain and need jobs!

hi all
i am currently working in salou and my partner and I now fancy a change and thinking of coming to tenerife
we both already have NIE numbers and scoial numbers and the normal stuff that is needed to work abroad and we both speak some spanish so thats not a problem
im looking for bar or waitress work and he is looking for a kitchen job.
are we better off waiting to look for jobs untill we get there or are we better off getting a head start on looking for a job before we come over???
all advice and help for anyone will be much appreciated
thanks
nicola

No dis-respect intended but if you both have jobs with a contract where you are I would personally stay where you are for the moment as things are very very quiet on the job front here
Ps Welcom to the Forum

only working until october

were not coming over just yet. were looking at late october november time. i know there is still a few months to go yet but just thinking ahead. where we are working in Sapin it is only a 6 month season resort so our jobs will be finished in october.
so we got a choice of 6 long boring months signing on and staying in a ghost town or trying somewhere else that is all year round work.

sounds like its not just here thats quiet then, its all over Spain how quiet are you talking about?? our resturant is lucky to be taking 200euros days and night where we were hitting near the 2000euro mark this time last year its soul distroying

I think that you should be OK finding work. It's the start of the 'swallow' season.

There is always bar and kitchen work available - the main problem is finding out where and being in the right place at the right time because these vacancies tend to get snapped up immediately.

Good luck

I would agree with Mike's comments above as the beginning of October to the end of March is the busy season here with the arrival of the "swallows".

My wife is having the next three months off work and starting back at the beginning of October as it is so quiet at the moment.

It is a term that we use to describe people (usually retired) that migrate to Tenerife from October/November until February/March to escape the UK winter
