Exclamation Working in Tenerife... a few questions!

Hello,

I'm very glad that I eventually find usefull and full of people forum about Tenerife. I've been to many before but this one seems to be one of the best even if not the best!

Me and my 2 friends are going to Tenerife next week (12nd of June) so I have some question. Hope you reply me soon, because I've been to another canarian forum and did not get full reply... so I look forward to get it in here
We speak perfectly english, german and polish as well.

Where in Tenerife Sur (Los Cristianos, Americas, Adeje - nearby which hotel) is Delegacion Ministerio de Trabajo i Asuntos Sociales? I want to get Seguridad Social number. What kind of documents do I need? I have EU passport and ID. Does Seguridad Social number is enough to get a seasonal job?

First few days we'll spend on the beach and sleep there. Is that a problem, can Police catch us? Or give us any fine for sleeping? Of course we have sleeping bag.

I got this site from my friend: http://www.yoigo.com/ . Do you think that it's the cheapest offer of pre-paid card in Spain? And where to buy it (Sur)? Where is it available to buy? In shop, supermarket? I don't speak good spanish.. so just check out this site for me.. I mean is it pre-paid?
And what's mean "Todos los días 0 cent/min la primera hora de llamadas entre Yoigos." is that mean one hour daily for free?

Where to open bank account? I mean that I just want to open normal, simple bank account. Can I open a free bank account if I'll show my EU passport? Or do I need to pay some extra money?

We'll arrive in Tenerife Sur 12nd of June... and we have no accomodation and each of us have only about 150E. I sent many CV's to different hotels in Tenerife Sur. But I'll also visit some bars and hotels by myself and give them my paper CV. I have experience as a barman, waiter and cleaning service in hotel... if you have something to offer just pm me and I'll send you my CV.

We'll be have big backpacks so it's unconfortable to walking around and try to find some job with around 15 kg on back... so is there in Tenerife Sur any deposit boxes or luggage stores? I mean, in Germany or Poland they're plenty on train stations but when I've been to Tenerife this fabruary and haven't seen any luggage stores or deposit boxes...

And I'd like to work in banana plantation on tomatoes plantation... when is season to pickin up them? Can I work there during June, July, August? And what plantations are the best, any adresses? Is there any accomodation for plantation employees? Is there anyone here who has been working on plantation?
And another question is about plantators.. are they speak english? I've heard that natives don't like this language and british people ... I still learning spanish but I'd prefer to speak english with them.

And do I need NIE number for a seasonal job? I've heard that Seguridad Social is enough...

I look forward to reply because my flight is in next week

Kind Regards,
Matey1

There's no point in repeating advice every time somebody asks. Check this thread.

Firstly, to the forum

Right... to address your questions!

Los Cristianos opposite the Cepsa Garage. Have a look in the stickies in the living in/moving to Tenerife section for more info.

No idea... though I would think it'd be a little dodgy. Have you thought about getting a room in a pension (hostel)? They are cheap. Do a search for 'pension'. There is one in Los Cristianos.

Can't help on this one... what exactly are you after?

Any bank... just take your passport. Solbank and Banca March both have English speaking staff and are also in Los Cristianos.

Don't know about this one... maybe another member could help? There is Tenerife Self Storage. PM 9PLUS for info.

Any plantation owners will only speak Spanish and they are usually forund on the west coast out towards Alcalá and Playa San Juan areas.

You will need an NIE. Have a look in the stickies in the living in/moving to Tenerife section for more info.

Enjoy the forum and good luck!

I mean.. what is the cheapest pre-paid phone card for mobile to buy in Tenerife and where in Tenerife (Sur) can I get it?

Sorry... but I didn't find this...: how long time after apply NIE form I have to wait until I get an NIE no.? And why do I need Seguridad Social if you said that I need NIE no. to live and work in there?

Greate to hear that i can open a bank account with no any porblem. I just do not want to pay any extra money. Just free account.

Unfortunately I'm not able to send a pm to 9PLUS for info about self storage in Tenerife because.... I heve no enogh posts to send a pm. It's very strange, heh. But I'll try to write some more posts on this forum in order to get premission for pm's.

Regards,
Matey1

Ok, big thanks for reply. So I have another questions...I posting it again because yesterday it didn't submit, don't know why...

I've read in living in/moving to Tenerife section about NIE no. and BIG thanks for it!!! But there's no info how long time I need to wait to get NIE after apply a form for NIE? Does Social Security means only that I have medical health care in Tenerife? And if it takes long time, where can I obtain it the fastest??

I've thought about getting a room in a pension but... even if it's 20 euro per night I still have no enough money to pay for it lol
But finally we asked our friends in Tenerife and they might give us some accomdation, at least I belive it

I mean, what is the cheapest pre-paid mobile telephone sim card? Is that YOIGO (www.yoigo.com)? Or maybe there's some even cheaper?

Ok, you said that I can open a bank account in any bank, but is there any bank where can I open it for free without any extra money to pay?

I wish I could PM 9PLUS for info for Tenerife Self Storage... still have to post some more posts to be able to send PM's but as I checked it out in internet... it's rather for long term storing, but I'll PM him.. maybe will be ok.

Anyway... it's gonna be very very hard, but more sun and palm trees I see the more power I have :P Maybe there's someone in this forum who going to Tenerife for same purpose as me and my friends let me know and we can do it together!

Ohhh... there's noone who can reply me and give me some help.. but maybe is there any person who can give me and my friend accomodation for one first day? Please let me know... because I'll arrive in Tenerife in wensday...

Best regards,
Matey1

Happy Movil SIM card is ten Euro, and calls between Happy Movils are free, and calls to UK landlines are five or six cent per minute.

You'll have your NIE within three or four days. The best time (in my opinion) to go to the Policia Local is lunchtime.
Search the forum for "NIE". There's a massive thread somewhere with everything explained in a lot of detail.

Hope this helps.
Dave.

Yes, that helps me a lot! Thank you! So I'll surely buy Happy Movil SIM card. And sorry for some the same questions asking over and over again, but I'm a bit desperated and have no enogh time to read this forum But I have no more questions, I guess. Pension sounds good to me... I have to think about it.

But... finally I have great idea!!! I found here that I can work as PR (cash in hand) in night bar/rastaurant or whatever. I asked it in the other thread, but I want to mention it here too. If for exemple I would earn about 40-50 euros daily or nightly as PR then I could go to pension, if it costs 20 E per night, for the first days and save some money for renting a room or flat in the future (next month). Is that sounds good to you? Let me know

And the last question is... where in Los Cris/Adeje/Americas is any pension for only 20E per night?
