What are the average wages in Tenerife for a ceramic tiler?
Can anyone tell me what a Ceramic Tiler earns in Tenerife and what are the usual working hours. Will be coming to Tenerife when our house sells. England is going down the pan fast, its so deppressing here.
I was getting 400 Euro a week, but was not just doing tiling, was handyman company so you end up doing a bit of everything,,definately worth it though, that good I am back out next week to see about coming back out,,best of luck Hours were 8 to 5 monday to friday

Thanks for that; it doesn't sound to bad.Don't mind mucking in with other work. Good luck to you.
Everyone that does work in the building line in Tenerife is a " Master Tiler", whether they have worked cooking burgers in McDonalds back in the UK or worked in a call centre, but the upside is there is always lots of work in this line

Hi, as Delderek rightly points out, there are so many cowboys doing sub-standard work over here it just shocks me how people still use them?? But that is another story... A self- employed tiler ( A real one ) normally charges between 18 and 22 euro per meter ( labour only ). A employer will normal pay between 8 and 16 euro per meter, pending on wall or floor and size of tile, cuts and so on. ( I know alot of people in the trade [real ones] and this is what they tell me ) If you PM me your e-mail address I may be able to give you some contact numbers, no promises, that is up to you to prove that you are a tiler? All the best when you get here

Matter of interest, it seems over here that it is common practice to tile on bathroom walls over the top of old ones, I know its OK on floors, but is it good practice on walls?
It would make the room smaller every time you retiled...

Not really good practice unless the previous tiling is very very sound.
Tap the existing tiling with the knuckles and if any areas sound "hollow" then the backing is suspect.
Taking the old tiling off is a dirty time consuming job and usually the walls also need replastering as well.
