Question Can anyone answer a questions about employment law for teenagers in Tenerife?

I hope someone can help me here. In fact I'm sure someone can really.

My 17yr old son has just been accepted to work as a kitchen porter/waiter in the evenings. His times are still to be negotiated but as he is only 17, is there any law which states a particular time in the evening for teenagers not to be aloud to work?

This particular place is open until 1am but it was sort of agreed that he would get the last bus home which I think is around midnight. Not sure if I'm happy about that as I will have to be sure that he gets on the bus and that I meet him at the bus stop near home.

as far as i know, employees under 18 are not allowed to work in the night, which means between 10pm and 6 am.

As i understand it if a child is still in education he cannot legally work at all.I am also of the understanding that under 18s have to adher to different work laws and of course if there is no work contract hes not covered for any accidents etc at work and his employer can face hefty fines
Sorry to seem negative here

this is not correct, children from the age of 16 can be legally contracted, but between the age of 16-18 the parents have to give their consent and permission. and as i said, they are not allowed to work after 10pm. if an underaged of 17 still is in education, he still can be contracted legally when his work for instance is education-related...this applies actually to all between 16 and 21...

Many thanks guys for this. I will just have to try and get his hours altered. I thought this might be the case anyway. He just needs to earn some money for himself now as I can't always give him pocket money. He eats me out of house and home and still wants more!!!
