Does anyone know how you get to become a hotel based Excursion Rep? Have just relocated here with my husband and am staying in Las Americas. I want to work Saturday to Wednesday only to have the same weekend as my husband but am willing to work 9.00 - 6.00 hours. Any help would be good as I am not sure if you approach the excursion agent or the hotel company? Thanks

here are two ways of selling excursions at hotels. the smaller hotels usually have the reception to sell the excursions on the excursions´s company behalf, or the excursion offices have their own people based in the hotels. so basically i would approach any excursion head offices ( viajes teide office in the parque royale in torviscas; nere izierde in the valdez center in los cris) and hand in your application form. the only problem i can see coming up is that these offices rather tend to employ someone who has a proper knowledge of tenerife, somone who has been here a few years with sales experience. good luck anyway.

I know where there may be some part time jobs available. But not neccassarily the days you require as days off.

Thanks for your responses. Regarding the part time work with different days off I am going to have to pass as I was offered a job as a Suncare rep but had to decline for this reason.

My husband and I have relocated here to get a better qualiy of life and days off together are very important to us. I will have to just keep plugging away til I find something to fit in, but thanks for your help.

I know what you're saying as we had the same idea. It's not easy and sometimes you have to bite the bullet, earn the pennies and get on with it for the time being. Just keep telling yourself "it's not forever"

Hi Uptowngirl, i wondered if you could find me a job too? Seriously though i am looking for work and i also turned down the suncare job because of it being comission only. I will work part time or full time, anything to do with excursions, reception work, tourism basically as i have most experience from working for a tour operator. Any help would be great x

you could try popping down to CC Abora in Las Americas, there are lots of tour company offices there. It may pay you to knock on a few doors.
