Question What rates do car mechanics charge in Tenerife?

Hi
As some of you know i have helped out a few people on here with there car repairs.I was just wondering what sort of rates other "mechanics" charge for there services as i thinking of doing it as a part time thing evenings and weekends along side my other job.Being in the trade back in the UK we have found 9 times out of 10 it is cheaper for me to get the parts sent over from the uk or states than buying them over here.Any info on rates that are being charged would be of great help.

well i dont know the exact rate for labour but when a head gasket went on my car my hubby got all the parts including the oil for just under 100euros from a place in san isidro and fitted it himself. later on in the year the same thing happened to his car and he was unable to do the job himself due to work comitments so we gave it to rachels and for the exact same job we were charged 420 euros so there was quite abit of profit made there.......

Mechanic in Costa Silencio did a small "nixer" for me on a Sunday a few weeks ago fixing a hole in the Washer Fluid container ... 20 euros - I nearly dropped the phone in shock at how little the charge was

Anyone who wants his contact details, feel free to PM me

You may have been charged too steeply here, but you must remember a company has local, taxes, staff, and social to pay. Be careful Ashro you don't stamp on someone's feet doing this on the side.

At the moment i have been doing jobs for friends only and not charging silly prices.I am registered as self employed anyway so what jobs have been done will all be declared to authorities.Way i see it is if we cant all help each other now and again we might as well be animals.I am sure the few people that have had work carried out by myself have been pleased with the work carried out and the rates charged, but i am now looking to expand a little.

Ashro has done repairs on my car and i have always been extremly pleased with the results, time taken and the cost. (Not to mention amazed he was able to keep it running) He is a first class mechanic and very reliable and trustworthy.

Hi Ashro,

I do know a good mechanic in Parque dlr. He's just moved their about 6months ago after sharing a Rentacar garage in Chafiras. He's one to talk to as he has the knowledge of not only Canarian prices but also UK prices. He's Canarian but was educated in UK (I think). I'm sure he'll be able to give you a little advice.

I know it sounds strange but if you are able to help him out in giving him work you are unable to do, he'll be very helpful to you too. I know, because I know of another mechanic who did just that. PM me if you want to know more.
