Question Can anyone tell me how I can pay my own social security in Tenerife?

Can anyone tell me how I go about paying my own Social?

I have got my SS number, but just got my work contract and they are not paying it.

I know they are supposed to, but what can I do, I need to work!!

Thanks for any info received

Unless you are 'autonomo', they have to pay it.

If you are autonomo, take your contract and social security card to the social security office in the Valdes Cetre at LosCris and they will sort it for you.

Remember to take your bank account details if you want to pay it direct from the bank - otherwise you have to remember to go and pay it every month at the bank (and if you forget there is a fine to pay)

Thumbs up

Thanks, its all new to me, first job where I have got a contract (albeit a seemingly useless one!)

I don't have a social card, only the temp number they gave me when I registered a few months ago, can I take this with me?

Thanks

Yes - the card should have come through in the post long before now. It's a push out card on an A4 sheet of paper welcoming you to the social security system - like you have a choice!

Re you rcontract - PM me and tell me what sort of job you have and with whom and I'll probably be able to tell you whether it's an autonomo contract.
