What do you do for a living in Tenerife?

i know not everyone will want to share this information.. but i'm going to go ahead and ask anyway..

What work do you do?

How much do you earn?

Which part of Tenerife do you work at?

Like i said, i understand if you dont want to divulge your earnings, i'm just trying to get more of an idea of wages on the island. I think this post will help many moving out there, if kept on subject.

Thanks alot to all..

You will never earn as much here as you would in the UK but its all relative. The cost of living here is cheaper.

I have never earned from Tenerife so I am unable to give you my specific circumstances but, I do know a few delivery driver who deliver to the bars etc. They are on 250 euros per week-ish. Bar work will get you about 5 to 6 euros per hour and the couple of handymen I know charge out at 10 euros per hour-ish.

Not telling you my earnings but its below the tax declaration yearly amount but high enough to pay a mortagage.

I would not have moved to a holiday island like Tenerife if I'd had to earn my living - it would be too cruel. AFIK the average wage here for an employed ex-pat is just sufficient to scratch a living here rather than 'live the dream'

My advice would be to earn enough money to retire whilst in the UK, where it's relatively easy to aquire capital, and then retire here where the cost of living is easier.

Don't mean to offend folk in this post - just my opinion.

Yes, definately! Ten years ago that would have been the best thing to do. But no longer I fear. Although earning relatively large sums is possible in the UK there are now more ingeniously planned taxes to relieve you of them!

Your money goes further out here but things are creeping up.... but the wages are very low compared to the UK especially if you don't speak Spanish, even then someone say a Golf Course employee may be on 800 Euro per month including health care.

In my opinion you are far better to Earn in the UK, yes and pay their taxes, and spend the money here.....

Yup, same here, I'm happy to earn less in Tenerife and enjoy what little money I have than continue to feed GB Ltd with £0000s

Personally I keep reminding myself, Tenerife isn't the promised land, but it's a damned sight better looking than Stoke on Trent

Its not uncommon for that type of rate its an employers market i am afraid and they exploit it to the max. Many British come here with a dream if they work hard they will do well.... Not the case.. There are many highly skilled people out here who drive a delivery van or work in a bar many go back home disillusioned and Beaten by the nepotism in the system....

Don't interrupt me when I'm ignoring you!

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.
