Do you need qualifications to start your own mobile mechanic business in Tenerife?

Hi,
My boyfriend would like to create his own mobile mechanic business. He's got over 20 years experience also with trucks. Can anyone advise me if you need any qualifications as I read somewhere that you need to have your qualifications approved by the government which seems strange if you do your own thing. My boyfriend hasn't got really qualifications (or over 20 years old) but he's got lots of experience. Is there anybody out there who would know about this and also how long is the process to set up ?

I to am a mechanic with papers but it is a minefield trying to get set up over here so best of luck to you and be prepared for lots of paperwork and expenses.Hope you speak spanish

Thanks for your reply. I imagine like any business it's lots of paperwork and cost. But I do speak spanish fluently so that should help hopefully. Do you know if the qualifications need to be recognised ? Are there many mobile mechanics on the island ? Thanks. Lulu.
