Question Can anyone give me advice about working as an estate agent sales adviser in Tenerife?

I've been for an interview with a well known Estate Agent in South Tenerife. The job is commission only. Does anyone know if all Agents Sales Advisers are employed in this way, or are there some that offer a basic salary plus commision.

I am undecided about what to do if i should get offered the job. (I have been for a second interview.) Because my wife is now working, she also needs to use the car.

My dilemma is this: Should I take the risk of buying another car, and taking up the job, should it be offered. Do you think that it is a good move for someone if they are confident they can do the job. Is the property sales industry healthy at the moment?

By my reckoning, i would need two sales per month to cover the outlay for another car, fuel, social payments etc, and leave me with a decent income. (By Tenerife standards.)

I am currently working, but the job is not a challenge for me. It is steady, and includes a part time contract, although poorly paid.

Any advice anyone can give me would be really appreciated. If anyone wishes to ask me any questions they would not like put onto the forum, please PM me. They will be kept strictly confidential.

Many thanks in advance.

I personally think the property market is very slow at the moment and 2 sales a month at this time of the year would be almost impossible, the market will not pick up again till Sep/Oct if it does at all. There are better qualified than me on the Forum to speak on this matter but I wish you Luck whatever you do me.. I would stay at my steady job at the moment......

I run a very small renting agency and things always go quiet at this time of year, if you need to rely on the money then I think its not the best time to start. This is just my personal opinion, but hope it helps
