Its the same plates as taxis use, the value I believe is around 60,000 Euro a friend of mine wanted one for a small mini bus to collect people from hotels to go to the Golf Course and 3 years down the line he still has no S.P plate... __________________ Competitive Golf in Tenerife To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. There is a company called resort hoppa who operate a private shuttle service from the airport to resorts you book through their web site they operate all over the med and beyond. I have an idea for a business which I would be very keen to start on the Island but need to navigate my way throught the Spanish bureaucratic minefield. Many thanks for your reply regards ddoyle | | | 28th April 2007, 09:16 | #4 (permalink) | | Old Golfer Sir Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Golf del sur of course Gender: Posts: 5,858 My Mood: | Quote: | Originally Posted by ddoyle Hi Old Golfer, Do you know if an SP Licence is required to operate a shuttle service as opposed to a taxi/ hackney service was the service your friend was trying to set up a shuttle service or a taxi service. Many thanks for your reply regards ddoyle | That's what he wanted to do shuttle them between their Hotels to Golf Courses around the Island but the Taxis which have a very strong union here don't like the idea as they are loosing fares, therefore you need an S.P plate private or not.He did operate but he had no insurance if anything happened which was silly, and he got hassle and damage to his vans and threats against him personally and in the end he gave up.... Its too small an island and you soon get known as to what your up to, as many people who run people to the Airport in their private cars have found out to their cost . My advise is not to do it illegally .. __________________ Competitive Golf in Tenerife To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I went down to the airport to neet a friend the other week and witnessed at least three 'white vans' being checked by the police. __________________ | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to welshsprout For This Useful Post: | | 28th April 2007, 10:49 | #6 (permalink) | | Banned Join Date: Nov 2005 Gender: Posts: 9,581 | Yep, want to add my agreement here. It is NOT worth it. The taxi lobby is incredibly strong, and has support in the courts and, more importantly, from the police on the ground. Unless you are completely legal, you haven't really got a hope. And getting legal will not be easy, nor cheap. Can anyone clarify the airport situation ... if you're legal, i.e. with an SP licence, can you pick up and drop off there?? I thought only Granadilla taxis could do this, but clearly there are shuttle services ... | | | 28th April 2007, 11:36 | #7 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Kent/Los Cristianos Gender: Posts: 1,547 | Quote: | Originally Posted by Janet Yep, want to add my agreement here. I run businesses.. but employ Lawyers and Accountants as this is their speciality, can you do this, or is driving the pivot of the new business which relays on the S.P licence? only you know, but may be worth considering rather than the grief and expense of acquiring your own Licence. There are many here you can hire by the hour ,day or week or the year... __________________ Competitive Golf in Tenerife To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.
