More retail and service jobs to replace lost manufacturing jobs. At least this is good news for people looking for a job.

I work in the car industry and things are not as bad for us as portrayed. Yes we have made about 70 redundancies out of nearly 900 but things "touch wood " have perked up a bit. The whole negativity thing as portrayed by the media is not helping things. A couple of us accountants have been made to do four day weeks but any job is better than no job !! least the majority of the workforce is safe guarded for now.

    Not even on the dashboard?

I often worry when I see tertiary industry jobs replacing primary or secondary industry ones, as they really mean that the newer jobs are only there BECAUSE OF primary industry ones, elsewhere.
The more service type jobs there are in a country, the less self sufficient the economy will be, and it's easier for economic troubles to have a ripple effect.
