Right... the new rates are now on the Forum. As per the initial post, they can all be accessed via the FOR SALE section of the Forum, or in the CLASSIFIEDS area. I have also edited the descriptions on all the thread and listings to reflect any suggestions that came up in this discussion.

The prices are as follows :

    So... here you are :

    3 months - Was €45 | Now €25 - a saving of 20€ (45%) or €8.33/month
    6 months - Was €60 | Now €35 - a saving of 25€ (42%) or €5.83/month
    12 months - Was €85 | Now €55 - a saving of 30€ (36%) or €4.58/month

On another note, can anyone contemplating signing up please check their computer hardware, as it makes a difference whether your PC/Mac will support the service. Jared's blog contains information about the minimum requirements HERE.

Also, if you are unsure whether your computer will be able to run it, you can always ask by posting below or use one of the support numbers/facilities in THIS post to contact the IAPS support staff directly.

Finally, all signups have a 48-hour no obligation cancellation period, so you can always try it before you commit.

I hope that is the EVERYONE's approval, as I have spent all day on this and would appreciate a rest

There has been lots of talk about the ability, or lack thereof of British TV Services on the Internet... however what you lot did not know is that behind the scenes we have been in negotiations for a couple of months now with a reputable British IP provider trying to negotiate good terms for forum members and also making sure the reputation of both the forum and the IP provider is protected.

To start from the beginning, I was recommended the services of a VPN provider. What the provider does is supply UK IP addresses to its clients for a fee. This enables you to connect to UK TV via the net using Zatoo, iPlayer, ITV Player, etc and either stream the programmes live, stream them delayed or download them to your PC or Mac to view later.

The company in question was referred to me by a friend on this very forum... although he has not been on in a while, it was our very own Highlander who originally posted about the company, IAPS. You can see their website HERE.

I spent a few months researching the different products and once I had satisfied myself, I signed up for a month to test the water. I was so surprised by the quality and service, that once my initial month ran out, I renewed for a year and it was at that point I spoke to Zarion and contacted the company's Director to see if there was a possibility of negotiating a deal to provide the service to forum members at an exclusive discounted rate.

Now... onto the service. As a user for the past 2 months, I have no faults with it. I have a 1mb connection at home and we can stream one channel comfortably and 2 at a push if we are not surfing any other sites, but sometimes if I know TheBloke is going to be watching TV at the same time, I will pre-download programmes overnight on iPlayer to watch the following day, Therefore they come directly from my PC Hard drive and do not stagger.

It is recommended that you have at least a 2mb connection, however as I have said, my connection is half that and I can use it. If you DO have a faster connection though, you can have up to 3 PC's connected at any one time... so if you and your other half and the kids all want to watch different channels... you have enough Desktop Computers/Laptops in the house and you have enough bandwidth, there's nothing to stop you all watching different channels

We recommend that you read more about the service HERE. There is a full FAQ we have put together from the information that IAPS have provided to us about the service HERE. You can buy the service at the Tenerife Forum discounted rate in the Classifieds Area or see the for sale threads.

If you would like more information or have any questions about this service, please post below and I will do my best to answer them or get the answers for you. You can also speak to the IAPS dedicated online support staff directly on Skype by clicking HERE or Yahoo Messenger by clicking HERE.

NB: Because both the forum and IAPS are concerned about providing/recommending only reputable services to our members and their clients, we have come to an agreement that Tenerife Forum will be the ONLY providers of the IAPS British TV services in Tenerife. As such, we have also agreed that in order to maintain the IAPS standards of quality, we will not promote any other UK TV service on this forum I have to mention this point, as the moderators will be removing references to these services from now on and the last thing we want is people wondering where their threads are going if they start one. If it is made clear from the outset, then all is above board, as it is the terms of the agreement that we will not be able to continue to provide members with the discounts associated with this deal if this is not enforced.

Question Re: NEW : Exclusive British TV Service for Tenerife Forum members!

Er Kirsty, We've just signed up to a VPN (no names mentioned because you say we can't) after a recommendation from another member here on the forum. Works fine, wirelessly from our laptop at a cost of £5 per month, so just curious how much this deal is really discounted. We have all 5 British TV channels steamed via a British VPN. Does your package give anything extra?

    smells like.......

and I thought a forum was all about independent information to serve the public

ps: I don't have to mention any names just to say their service is very expensive... but maybe Kirsty got 'us' a 75% forum discount

Re: NEW : Exclusive British TV Service for Tenerife Forum members!

You can get more than 5 channels... you can get any channels that are available on a UK IP, so it's limitless.... if the channels are there. It give you an IP address as if you are in Britain.

All the info is on the IAPS website. The owner is actually a forum member now, so I may get in touch with him later and see if he can get his staff on to answer any questions.

The cost of the service at it's cheapest on their site is $134.95 for 12 months, as obviously the longer you sign up for the cheaper it gets. At the current exchange rate, that is € 96.63. If you get it via the forum at the moment, then it is discounted by almost 12€ and it works out at 7.08€ a month, which is 6 quid.

Their site charges in dollars, so obviously as the exchange rate changes, the possible discounts will alter. I have a spreadsheet set up so this can be adjusted to the best discount possible depending on what the current rate is.

The main criteria that we had though, was to have a dependable service that would not be gone in a month, as there have been so many threads on here about services being off, pulled, subscriptions introduced, etc etc. It just gets a bit frustrating to read, especially when I have been getting every channel I want. Personally, I have not benefited from this discount though, because I am already a customer

You obviously have a problem with me, so maybe you'll get a better answer from speaking to someone you trust, rather than having a go at me

I have been putting a LOT of work into this to try and do someting good for forum members, but if you don't think that, then there's nothing I can do to change your mind, so I will not get into an argument about it

...and if anyone would like to read the original posts I mentioned by Highlander which recommended the service to me in the first place, you can find them here :

You may be right, Dominique... it may be very expensive... but I do not have any experience of other providers or know if they are actually reliable. This one I do. However it cannot get any cheaper... and to me, 7€ a month is not expensive for a guaranteed service (I pay 8€ a month) ... especially when I had been paying 57€/month for the crap we got on via Digital... at least now I watch what I want when I want and it stream fine

Re: NEW : Exclusive British TV Service for Tenerife Forum members!

Can someone on the forum explain why i should choose this than the array of channels from filmon.com that recently became a subscription service as i was going to subscribe to filmon but obviously would prefer to use a forum service if it was better.

Although the forum service seems to be more expensive but if proven to be more benefits i would obviously choose that.

Howver from what i have seen there are many more channels on filmon.com, can the forum tv service be improved to include more channels?????
I've never had a humble opinion. If you've got an opinion, why be humble about it?

Re: NEW : Exclusive British TV Service for Tenerife Forum members!

As said originally, this service is a UK IP address, not an 'array of channels'. It basically give you access to anything you need a UK IP address to access, so you can get any channel that requires you are a UK resident to watch it. I have no idea how many channels that includes at present, as I simply have not looked. I only use one or two myself, BBC & ITV. I've never been a big TV watcher... I still don't watch Eastenders, ever though I can

I have sent an email to Jared, who is in charge if the company. He is very customer service orientated and amiable, so I'm sure he'll come on and answer any questions you may have.

His username is iaps on the forum

If it's a UK IP restricted service, you can use it. I don't know about filmon... I didn't bother installing it, because I didn't need to. The support staff at IAPS will happily answer any emails or support queries you may have. Jared has always been very nice when I have mailed him about various points.

All you are getting is a UK IP address. It is legal for you to buy into a VPN or tunneling service and it is legal for the BBC to let you view the iPlayer if you have a UK IP address.

illegal services are ones that take a uk or satellite stream and rebroadcast via the internet, such as the various channels on justinTV etc. You find that these channels get shut down in a week or two and then you have to find another. We got a virus off one about a month ago.

Anyway folks... I have to go to bed now, as the kids have talleres tomorrow. I will be online after 10am ish and maybe Jared will be online later if you have any questions, as he tends to be a night owl. Otherwise I'll send any queries through tomorrow and get answers.

As I mentioned in the original post, there is a Skype and Yahoo live support link you can use too, if you want to speak to their support staff that know a little bit more than me and probably deal with these questions daily!

I wonder if some of the channels and programmes provides subtitles for the hearing impaired viewers...
