Has enyone used a programme such as Zattoo to receive UKTV chanels such as bbc1, itv etc via the internet/pc
What is Zattoo?
Zattoo brings TV to the PC. We have developed a software that enables you to watch TV for free on your computer. The software is available for free and runs on Windows 2000, XP and Vista, Mac OS, and Linux. All you need additionally is broadband access.
Where can I use Zattoo?
Zattoo is currently available in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. We’ll be launching in new countries and continents soon, so check back frequently
I have just loaded it in the uk and seems ok. Says it will work in Spain but I wonder if the IP address issue occur in Spain. i.e will only work with a uk ip address.
Does anyone have workaround such as using a proxy server. I would be grateful if anyone could share any knowledge on this
I've never tried Zattoo but did use UKNova for a while before I got the digibox thingy. It worked really well but wasn't live. Hopefully, it will benefit someone.

See THIS thread. This has already been discussed at length on the forum and there's a wealth of info just waiting for you
I've been trying to make the forum aware of a tv service in the uk which may or may not work just yet for you but will be very soon. If you log in and read the announcements to will see that it plans to expand to abroad and EU very very soon. It's really stable - much better than Zattoo and will also be a catch up service complete with a pause button.
I can't give a link to the web site or this won't get posted even though I have absolutely nothing to do with the site or the providers.
It is completely legal and totally free.
Find it by using: www. tvcatchup and adding the .com
It will be incredible for us.

My Mood:
I use a Slingbox
I use a Slingbox connected to my Sky box and internet at home in the UK and it lets me control and watch programmes on my PC or mobile phone anywhere including Tenerife.
You can change channels and even power the sky box on and off remotely.
A New version of the Slingbox software comes out soon and will let you pause and rewind live TV
tvcatchup.com (strange name for live UK TV) can already be accessed from here but you still need a UK IP address and always will.
There is already a thread about this but I got my UK IP address from here:
There SSH accounts allow you to access:
tvcatchup - 18 Channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & 5 etc
BBC 1, 2, 3 and 4 live online from here: BBC - BBC One - Watch Live
BBC iplayer
Channel 4 On-Demand
Channel 5 On-Demand
Sky player (although you need a sky subscription)
Plus lots more.
A simple hook up of a S-Video out cable from your PC/Laptop to your telly and your away or you can just watch direct from your PC.
The company also has excellent customer support if you should have any problems setting up your account.
I've been using this for about 10 months now, it really is very good.
As for Zattoo, you would need one of their UK VPN accounts to access but it really is virtually identical to tvcatchup and not really necessary.
Les22: Did you pay 295€ for a uk IP address, as this seems a bit over the top price wise but I maybe wrong. A friend who watches uk tv from Thailand got one for £70 per year.
I will need to get one sorted as we are not allowed 2 metre dishes on our complex so no BBC or ITV ect.

If I can trouble you to explain what this means I would appreciate it. Where can I buy this cable in Tenerife or on the net, and what are the connections I need at either end?

If you've got a UK address where there is an ADSL connection, you can get ALL the uk channels for free using Slingbox Pro installed at a UK address. I've been using it for a year and can watch TV through my PC or any PC if I go on holiday, using the SlingMedia software.
