Question What is the weather like in Tenerife from December until March?

Hi All

We are coming over in December and staying through to end of March, can anyone tell me what the weather will be like to aid packing. We have been over several times in the past but always visit in May or June.

Bring a couple of woolies and some long trousers for the evenings, as it gets colder in Jan at night, as you may acclimatise to the hot weather if you're out that length of time and it feels a lot colder once you have.

Also bring a light waterproof and a brolly for when you get the occasional downpour, as when it comes down, it comes down heavily, but only in shortish bursts. You could always do what the rest of us do when it rains and wait it out in a bar, or at home... but it'd be better to at least have the option to move!!!

Most of the time it's warm (however it really depends on where you are staying) but you get the odd cold spell (as low as 12ºC!!!), so be prepared.

I have visited Tenerife and Gran Canaria in all of these months and have never had coastal temperatures that dipped much below 20c during daylight hours. However, as I spend a lot of time hill-walking at high altitudes, the temperatures here varying considerably. I remember one day in January 2002 leaving Los Cristianos in very mild but cloudy conditions in the morning only to find myself walking in fairly heavy snow showers on the mountains around Teide. When I returned to LC later in the day, I sat on my balcony enjoying a drink in warm sunshine!

As Kirsty says, it really depends on where you are staying.
