The Tenerife Forum Easy Jet flight reviews thread

We flew home from Tenerife on the 28th June with Easy Jet. We arrived at Ten sur 2 hours before we were due to fly and there was the obvious large queue which we joined and there ended up being about 20 or so people behind us. As we got near to the front of the queue the young couple behind said they had heard that the flight was over booked by about 30 places, OH NO HERE WE GO!!!! Anyway as we approached the check in desk surprise surprise the people in front of us were told the plane was full!!!!
They then came to ask everyone if they had boarding passes which were printed on line and luckily we and two other people had so we were allowed to proceed. We went outside for a last cig. and came back in and asked the people left what had been said to them, not alot was the answer but they had heard that maybe they would fly to Newcastle and then a coach!!!! or even Gatwick!!!!
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!!
We boarded the plane and just as we were getting ready to take off the stewardess said will about 16 people go to the rear of the plane (if you don't we won't be going anywhere as she put it) as the plane is front heavy because everyone is sat at the front WHAT DID SHE JUST SAY You can have your seats back after take off it's ok!!!OK OK OK WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE LEFT BEHIND?????????
I counted at least 17 empty seats at the front when people moved so god knows how many there were at the back as well.
We said to the stewardess excuse me but what about the people left behind because they were told the plane was full and they couldn't board!!!! she just said oh I don't know anything about that they don't tell us!!
Talk about GOBSMACKED. We just wish we had some way of contacting someone who was left behind because they won't have any idea that the plane was NOT full at all. So if anyone knows anyone that SHOULD have been on that flight please let them know.
I am going to email easy jet now but don't think I'll get very far do you?

That's madness!
Why would they do something like that if the plane wasn't full?
I understand the weight distribution thing on board, and I've seen it many times, but not letting people on, when there are empty seats?

Easyjet have only been flying here about 3 months and the amount of horror stories I have heard. Their reputation isn't good is it?

I used to think that most of the stories you saw on the TV series were made up for viewing figures, but I don't think they would want that story showing on TV do you?

This worries me. we booked our flights to Tenerife with GB airways because i do not like flying with easyjet/Ryanair. I hate the fight for seats when you are trying to board. So I deliberatly booked with another airline. 6 weeks later we were told the Easyjet had bought Gb air and we would now be flying with them they offered us our money back but by then all other flights to tenerife had gone up, so we were stuck with them. Not looking forward to flying with Easyjet, but its only for a few hours so I guess we can put up with it

I've only ever used sleazyjet to fly to TFS from Gatwick, generally use Monarch back because the flight times are better. But I've not had any problems, used them 4 times in the last three months.

There's a rumour that BA are planning to restart the route despite losing GB Airways, the Tenerif government apparently don't like not having a full service airline coming into TFS and are offering various incentives. Hope it happens!
