I need help from the Tenerife Forum members with getting around the Island by bus.

New to the island....no car as yet so will be using the buses!

I would like to get to Carrefour,Ikea and shopping centres, that sort of thing.

If its at all possible can forum members advise of the bus services I would need to take to get to these places ?

I have looked at the Titsa website but as I don't know the names of the areas where any of stores are I'm a bit lost!

I'm in the south of the island and will be travelling from Chafiras.

Thanks

Tess

There are other bus threads Tess but given that you need help in knowing the areas in Tenerife too I have not merged your thread with others.

Ikea is near La Laguna. You would need to get a bus to Santa Cruz and then another to Ikea. I don't know which buses go to Ikea but someone on the Forum will.

the 110 and 111 go to Santa Cruz and they will take you past Carrefour.

Yes, but as tess says, this is not much use to her because she doesn't know where the areas are.

Step one is to get a good map!

Make sure you buy a Bono-Bus card. They are available at the terminus and in many shops. It wil cost you €12 but save you 50% on a journey over 20kms and save you looking for change.

Have been to Ikea lots of times on the bus, but can't remember the no. out of santa cruz now. They are very helpful in the info office in santa cruz and speak english. They go every half hour, it is hard to know were to get off as you stop across the motor way and need to cross the motor way on the bridge, therefore Ikea can't be seen from the bus stop. Ask the driver and he will tell you were to get off. Word of advice, write Ikea on a piece of paper, as the spanish say it different from us, and I had problem making myself understood.

There used to be a massive snowman just before the exit off the motorway... if it's still there, that's a good landmark for where to get off
