Are you allowed to leave the airport when you are on a connecting flight?

Looking to go back to the Uk and the cheapest flight is via Dublin (saves about 70 euro)

My question is during my wait a Dublin airport which will be I reckon 4 hours or so would it be possible to have a look around Dublin?
Do they let paasengers leave the building or do you have to stay in the departures section?

Cheers

Yes, I think it is or certainly was pre terroism!! providing you´ve a passport and get back in time for the flight, otherwise it could get a bit expensive, How far is it from the airport to anything worth seeing?

I have never been to Dublin before so I am not sure of distances but it does seem a waste if I just sit in an airport terminal when I could be looking around Dublin.

I can´t see what the problem would be unless I did not turn up again then my luggage might be a terror threat

If your luggage is being checked straight through from TFS to the final destination then you may be transferred directly to the departure lounge on arrival at Dublin, meaning you can not got back through passport control as you will actually bypass it in the first place.

If its another airline company you're travelling with and you have to physically check back in when you arrive at Dublin, you're free to do what every you want. But you will have your cases with you so if you can check them in early fine if not..bugger!

There's a bus from Dublin airport to the city centre, I think it takes about 20 minutes to half an hour, plenty of helpful people around to ask

yeah isnt a problem I dont think. I was working in Switzerland for a few days and I had to get a connecting flight at Charles de gaule in Paris and I was free to leave airport. Not that I did mind you...I managed to get lost in the departure lounge so thought better of actually leaving the building!

I was just in the process of booking my flight when i remembered that my passport is out of date!

I see that the emergency passport is 86e and there are surgeries in the south Thurs and Mondays to issue them. Do they hand them out there and then? And how long do they last for (could I come back on it?)

They're only given out in emergencies and you have to give doc's certification, or something to prove the emergency.

This is why we are going back for xmas and didn't go over the summer holidays.

Why do you need to go back? (PS: I doubt an Arsenal game will be good enough reason)

if you go to the police statyion in las americas and declare a lost passport...they give you a form for travel out of tenerife. This WILL NOT get you back though ...you will have to apply in UK for a new one.

This is what my spanish friend who works at TFS said for you to do lol
