Are there any radio controlled model clubs in Tenerife?
Regressing into my childhood i was a radio controlled anything freak, boats, planes, cars, helicopters. Is anyone on the forum a member of any clubs over here or know of any? Are there any english speaking racing, flying or sailing clubs in Tenerife?

I confess. I am a member of both these clubs flying mainly RC helicopters.
Club de Aeromodelistas is a large club (120+ members) with very little English spoken (a good incentive to learn Spanish!) while Club Tornado is very small (15 or so members) with relatively more English on the flightline but less chance of actually seeing any flying if you randomly turn up.
I'm in Edinburgh for the next two or three weeks but you are welcome along when I get back and flying again.
Ken
I´m now back on the island and model flying mainly at weekends. Anyone wanting to have a look at either of the two flying clubs drop me a PM.
Ken

Weekend afternoons are peak time in UK clubs but not here as Tenerife has a bit of a wind problem most days (particularly in the summer) with the (relatively) calmest conditions and most model flying taking place early in the morning and during the couple of hours before sunset.
The wind situation at the big club site is particularly problematic at this time of year but the problem is solved by flying indoors (weekends only) at el Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz. This is a seriously huge venue and probably one of the best indoor flying sites in the world.
I will probably be at Club Tornado 1900ish both Saturday & Sunday this weekend. Feel free to drop by for a look see (assuming that you are not drowning your sorrows!).
He has cars, gliders and is onto RC Helicopters, he found one club up by Chimichi I think.. is that the one you're on about? But yeah, wind can be a problem. Otherwise he flies them by Tropicana in adeje on an evening if the weather is ok.

The Club de Aeromodelistas Tenerife flying site is close to Chimiche and is fully equipped with a tarmac runway and good facilities. Unfortunately, you also have a nice view of spinning wind turbines which gives a clue as to the main issue with the site.....
Club Tornado is near el Fraile with relatively few facilities but (usually) much better flying conditions.
Ken, are you flying Sunday? I'm available for a trip up that way if you are?
Should be, with the likely plan being to spend 1030-1200ish at the Granadilla club (very wind conditions permitting) and 1800-2000ish at el Fraile. Where/when had you in mind and perhaps we could confirm the situation on Sunday morning?
