Is my golf handicap certificate needed for playing in Tenerife?

Hi All

Thought I might sample the wonderful golfing facilities while I'm there next week. Will the courses insist on a handicap certificate? I play to around 26 but I've only just joined a club and haven't yet submitted any cards to get my handicap certificate.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Hi Tim
I have organised several golf trips in Ireland, Spain & Portugal over the last few years, (we have just come back form Vilamoura in Portugal & played on some of the best courses that you will find).
A lot of the courses will state that you have to show a handicap certificate but in my experience we have never ever been asked to produce one. (I like you do not have one as I do not belong to a club).
If you get asked for one just tell them that you have frgotten to take it with you, as long as you are not turfing up the fairways or greens I am sure you will be fine.

Happy golfing

Edit: You could also ask your club to give you a certificate, I would have thought they would give you one for a handicap of 28.

I have never been asked to show my card in over 10 years here. Having said that I have seen times when lads have turned up without a card and have had to go to the range to show they can hit the ball before they are allowed on. This was at Las Americas

Hi Bassman. You shouldnt have much problem. I am a regular player at Amarilla Golf and they have never asked for a certificate just your money!. It may be handy to know that at the moment green fees can be cheaper after 3pm. Check at the club.

Maximum handicap is 28 for most courses here. I say '25' if asked
