Cricket - to watch or to play
There is a Twenty-20 Cricket tournament to be played on Sundays, June 1st, 8th and 15th and the Final on June 29th starting at 11.00 am and expected finish around 2.30 pm.

The first match is between Ideal Icons and Pagoda Kings.

There will be Indian Chicken Kebabs (Pinchitos) and drinks on sale.

The venue will be the Football Ground at El Galeon, Adeje.

You are invited and please pass this message on to your friends.

The teams comprise mostly of Indian players. A cricket club has been registered with the support of the Adeje Council and we would encourage cricketers from England and elsewhere to join us in future.

:cricket was great, the atmosphere brilliant, the indian community welcomed us warmly and sponsered another team a british side so now there are four teams .
there is a warm up for people to try out on sunday at 9.30, still looking for more players,
will be there on sunday with cool box,(beer is on sale)
bit of advice if going take umbrella for sunshade.
be a ware spectaters watch out for the sixes into the stands!!!

Powered by a stroke filled 83 not out by Kamlesh, Pagoda Kings defeated Ideal Icons by 35 runs in the first match of the Howzat Cricket Club, Tenerife 20-20 League played on Sunday, 1st June at the Football Ground in El Galeon, Adeje.

Batting first Pagoda Kings made a steady start and the game was evenly poised at the halfway mark. With the score at 56 for 2 wickets off 10 overs no one must have imagined the onslaught that was to follow.

It rained 4s and 6s as Kamlesh took on the Ideal Icons bowlers. The Icons´ fielding came under pressure and they dropped catches, in addition to a missed stumping chance earlier which proved very expensive.

Kamlesh made the most of his good fortune and played some attractive drives, hitting 10 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported by Vinod who made 20 and then Sagar with 18 in an unbeaten partnership of 75.

With Ideal Icons chasing 150 for a victory they required a good start but they quickly collapsed to 34 for 4 wickets. Then Kamal and Dheeraj revived the innings and their team still looked to be in the chase. However just when Dheeraj was warming up with some excellent shots he fell to a sharp, low catch by bowler Chandan with his score at 21.

Kamal played a fighting, captain´s innings of 40 not out but with not much support at the other end the innings crumbled to 114 all out in the 19th over. Naveed was the pick of the bowlers getting 3 wickets with his sharp in swingers and Kamlesh provided a demonstration of some tight spin bowling.

Kamlesh was named Man of the Match and received the cup from Mr. Shyam Aswani of Ideal Jewellers.

The next match on Sunday, 8th June will be played between Pagoda Kings and Scorpio Warriors.
