What is the procedure for applying for a beach trader license in South Tenerife?

Does anybody know the procedure for applying for a beach trader license in Los Chris/Las Americas?

I'm assuming I would have to approach Arona Council?

Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

James

I don't think any beach trading is allowed (legally)

and I think what concessions there are...sunbeds..pedallos..jet skis... etc are all owned by a single local family

and I would imagine jealously guarded.

Thanks for your comments guys.

Without going into too much detail I'm not after a perm spot on the beach. Not looking to muscle in on the local family business !

Looking to run a couple of small interactive football events on various beachs during the holiday season.

thanks again.

They do have volleyball tournos on the Los Cris beach so it might be worth asking at the Town Hall.

They have an english speaking advice telephone number will see if I can dig it out.

beach selling

I think first of all you have to get yourself a pair of scruffy cut offs, dont wash for about a month. Then you practice your accent ie Piiiiiinnnneapppleees. Lubely jubbely. Fruuuuuiiiittti!! Then walk up and down and remember 15 euros for a slice of melon, 2 euros for a banana and perhaps 5 euros for a donut plus extras for the stuck on flies!

Quite easy really!!

There are only a certain amount of these licences available, and I imagine they were all sold years ago.

So to get one, you would have to buy an existing business that holds one of these licences. Otherwise, you may be stuffed I'm afraid.

You could always approach a licence holder with the project and operate it under them, but of course then you lay yourself open to have your idea nicked.

You must have been to Las vistas beach, its interesting to see the police, hiding in some of the San Telmo bars, watching the Melon sellers etc, and then sending in the under cover guys to trap them on the beach, and then confiscate the goods in the boot of the local police car. Don't know where it ends up,,Police canteen perhaps, but they probably get fed up with Melons and Donuts.

I don't think it is a concession, I think it is directly run by the council, as a few years ago the guys in Cristianos were prosecuted for defrauding the council out of many thousands of Euros.

My Mood:
There are 2 watersports businesses for sale right now.

299,000, and 304,000 respectively.

I might buy them both
