This year's Subida de Tamaimo (Tamaimo Hill Climb), according to the rally calendar issued by the motorsport federation, is that it will be this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 4th and 5th October.

Apparently, the cars will be on parade somewhere around Puerto Santiago tomorrow evening, so I'm going up to snap a few shots... I am a bad petrol head...

It is only the 'top' road that will be closed. if you want to go into Los Gigantes, you will have to use the coast road through Playa de la Arena.
The reason I originally asked the question is because I live along the closed road, on the section they usually use as the 'pits'. just wanted to kinow when to move my car else where. The offical no parking and road closed notices went up last night.

Fun though these events are, does the team think they encourage much of the bad driving on the island(s)?
Errrrr no?? This is a controlled event, everyones public safety is taken into consideration hence the roads are closed! This isn't a public event this is an event for professional rally drivers who will have some sort of competitive licence to compete! If this encouraged bad drivers they would let anyone take part! These kinds of rallys are held all over the world every week of the year!

I think Muppet meant to ask if the rally inspired other, non-rally drivers to drive like lunatics, the way taxi drivers do on roundabouts?

I see lots of "boy-racer" types over here, but I don't hear of many road deaths. Maybe the way the rally is promoted actually deters them from killing themselves? Or maybe it's the ease with which they can go to see these events that means they're less likely to try emulate the rally drivers? It's near impossible to go to things like this so easily in a bigger country. Dave.
