We went there last summer when it had just opened.
As someone who has years of restaurant experience, I could tell that they didn't have a clue what they were doing - but it was early days- they needed a lot more practice.
The food was OK but the service was appalling, we waited over an hour for our food!!! I have to say though that I am particularly critical when I go to a restaurant, and I am always watching what the staff are doing.
The posts of today seem to be positive though, so may give it another try next week when we are over.

Cant think why you would say "Just opened" Its been open for at least 6 years maybe longer, may have changed hands but definately been open a long while.

Exactly! A friend did nearly die after eathing there on the first day of the
her holiday three years ago. She got severe food poisoning and ended up having organ failures and on a life support machine! Glad its changed hands now though. That´s good news.

Don't sound right to me ok I only have a cup of tea with my meal. I would'nt go there at those prices. Did you check the price list when you sat down? or query the bill? I would have the waitress go through it with a fine toothcomb.
I hope you left a generous tip

I should imagine with those kind of prices their business will take a rapid nose dive

I have been on and off this restaurant over the years. When I first went, approx 7 years ago, I was delighted that I had found a 'proper' fish & chip place and I use to go regularly for my monthly dose of good olde british stodge.
I boycotted the place after I received a portion of frozen chips - why would I pay for those when I can do them at home?
I returned to Auntie's in Feb 07 and had a fantastic night, I was with my family and I think the company helped. We all had cocktails and there was a lot of hilarity with one of them as it looked and tasted like mud. We had sat outside and the large restaurant on the corner towards the port gave us our evenings entertainment - they had on 'live' entertainment but the table that got up and down during their meal to linedance to the 'band' were hilarious. Ok, sounds silly but it provided us with a momentous night that still sticks in our memory.
I was last in the restaurant just before Christmas and it was packed, probably helped by the weather as it was raining. The ownership seemed to have changed as it was all staffed by Scottish, a bonus as far as I was concerned.
There were 4 of us and we ordered The Works - fish'n chips, mushy peas, bread'n butter, onion rings. 10 out of 10 for the food, excellent, and the portions were massive. The only downside was the cost, I can't remember what the total was but we'd been up to Paraiso earlier in the week and even with starters and bread and mojo sauces Aunties came out far more expensive.
I would go back, but not regularly as I think it is too expensive although the portions are a good size.
