Then I remembered El Rancho, on the way to Palm Mar. We hadn't been for ages and as Kev's dad likes a good steak we decided to take them. Well what a hit that was. We had a brilliant meal, and talk about the size of them! We made the mistake of ordering two starters between us, Jamon Serrano & Queso Manchego, they were both delicious but we shouldn't have ordered them as the main courses were huge and we struggled to finish. We also ordered one portion of Canarian potatoes and one of chips, again we shouldn't have bothered as all the meals came with Jacket potatoes. We got 4 great hunks of country bread with all the dips (1 euro for the 4 of us!) this is standard and brought to your table automatically, you don't have to order it. Kev's parents ordered Sirloin steaks, Kev a fillet steak and I had the Chef's special Lamb. All came on sizzling platers, huge portions of meat and absolutely delicious, the steak was around 14 euros but absolutely massive and the lamb was around 12 euros and enough to feed 2 people. We have kids but had a night out without them but we could have brought them with us as this restaurant has an outside enclosed patio with a pool table, table football and a bouncy castle as well as loads of space for them to run around, brilliant for families. However if you want a quiet night without any kids around, the restaurant has so many different areas you can pick a seat well away from the play area and not even know there were kids around. A lovely rustic atmosphere, friendly staff and great food all very reasonably priced. Take the exit for Guaza off the motorway, drive through Guaza passed the petrol station on your left until you come to the roundabout sign posted Palm Mar, first exit on your right. Follow the country road and you will see El Rancho on your right hand side. You can park opposite. Closed on Tuesdays. Let me know if you give it a go and what you think Linda | | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to lacrawf For This Useful Post: | | 16th August 2008, 16:33 | #2 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Tenerife Gender: Posts: 927 | hi linda , had a great meal there 2 mths ago and they told me about a special night every mth 25 euros a head 3 course meal drink ( wine & Beer i think ) and dance till the early hrs with the band /entertainer sounds a good one !! | | | 16th August 2008, 17:05 | #3 (permalink) | | Cosmic Girl Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: In the sunshine Gender: Posts: 1,439 | It's tonight and it's really good! Nice to have some entertainment too, especially, Mr Cy Benson, and your friends. Sounds like one cracking night out!! __________________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time!" | | | 17th August 2008, 11:33 | #7 (permalink) | | Cosmic Girl Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: In the sunshine Gender: Posts: 1,439 | I will post the next date on here as soon as I know. Had a chat with everyone last night after the show and apparently it went really well. Big turn out and the food was wonderful, according to our neighbours that went. __________________ Effective Marketing Tenerife - Growing YOUR Business is OUR Business! www.effectivemarketingtenerife.com | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Jenniewhitewave For This Useful Post: | | 17th August 2008, 19:09 | #8 (permalink) | | Newbie Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Guargacho, Tenerife Gender: Posts: 9 | Thanks for the info. Mind you, this was a mid-week lunch-time in October 2007. Don't remember the food too well but, had it been anything other than reasonable, I would have done. May be better to go during a week-end or when you can see a few cars parked on the bit of waste ground opposite. Will try it again in a few days time. Whatever you do, make sure you eat local food in preference to the dreadful imported ethnics (including the celebrated all-day English breakfast!). Better still, shop and cook.
