Clarets Restaurant, Chayofa

Clarets Restaurant

Varied menu and daily specials. Excellent food. Prepared well. Presented beautifully. A main course will set you back 15-20 € so you wouldn't want to eat there every day as it's quite expensive - but well worth it and value for money for a special occassion or if you are on holiday.

Expect to receive a very large portion - I once had leg of lamb and brought a doggy bag home which produced another meal and two lots of sandwiches!!!

Craig and his staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Best of all - it's within staggering distance of my house.

I seem to remember that they have a magician on a Wednesday evening.

Closes all day Friday.

I went there once with my mum when we stayed in Chayofa while having building work done on our house.

It was very nice and friendly, however I did find it a tad expensive. The food was good, but I thought it was probably a bit over-priced compared to other places.

I would recommend it for something different, as the atmos is nice and Chayofa is a good setting if you fancy something a bit posher, but take a bit of extra cash with you!

A definite one if you're out on the pull!

Leg of Lamb is good. I think they are farming mutant sheep, my leg was big enough for a family of 4!

Overall i think (and its just my opinion based on all the restaurants Ive been to) it's slight over rated. Living on its reputation.

I agree. It's not bad though.

Visited in September 2005 and thought it was excellent for food, service and ambience. Agree with everyone else about it being pricey though!

Thumbs down

Sorry but I (and other regular ex-pats) disagree...
  • Everywhere decent uses fresh produce.
  • Over priced and over rated.
  • Lives on reputation gained years ago when they had no competition.
  • Many more similar establishments now operate also away from tourist areas with same quality and service but at lower prices.
  • I have heard they are struggling to keep up these days.

Drive past it for another 10 mins and stop in San Lorenzo. Restaurant Parisio is just as good but a heck of a lot cheaper.
