The Slow Boat, Puerto Colon, Tenerife

We've been to this restaurant a couple of times recently with different friends. Now I'm not a big fan of Chinese food but this place has changed my opinion. The ribs in Capital sauce are my favourite starter. If you like hot food try the chicken or beef in chili sauce. Careful with the hot chilies in it though as you will know about it if you eat one

There's a good choice and they will let you alter things on the set menu.

The food is really tasty and the staff are pleasant and helpful.

If you sit outside there's a nice outlook over the marina.

One of the best chinese resturants anywhere. Always make a point of going each time we visit our place in the sun.

Heading outin less than 2 weeks with family and friends as part of daughters 21st birthday celebrations so another visit coming up soon

My Mood:
I think it is fair to say with the sheer numbers of chinese restaurants that are now in Tenerife, the originals are still the best.Slow Boat 3 and Frankies down the Patch are my two faves.

Slow Boat chinese in Puerto Colon GRrrrrrrrrr

8 of us went to the slow boat last Saturday night. We arrived at 10pm the staff were great, moved out table outside when there was space, food was fantastic. It came time to pay (midnight by then, staff had packed up..)
The bill was over €230 - not insignificant, we paid and asked if we got shots like all the other customers we had seen - the staff got VERY agressive. told us the bar was shut. The missues went to see the boss he said

"I would quit whilst you are ahead - my staff have seen your boys in the toilets taking drugs"

what a way to ruin someone's night out - they couldn't be bothered to give us a shot like all the other customers, because they had decided it was time to go home.

There was no possible repost to the manager, violence did spring to mind but we rose above this. I just can't accept someone taking that sort of attitude with customers (and just to be complete - of course no-one was doing drugs!)

So we won't be going there again

New Year

I think I have had New Year's eve dinner at the Slow boat every year for the last 20 years! Creature of habit, maybe....but the food is good!
