xx Hi Emma (malibu09) - glad your new guest has settled down now - it does take a few hours for them to get use to their new surroundings. Yes my 2 poodles are doing fine - they are with me in my home for 7 months and they had their rabies last Wednesday. I keep in contact with the owner in the UK and will send her some pictures of her dogs when I bath them next week. She is very pleased how quickly they have settled in and they are very happy and content with their new surroundings. She says that I am a godsend because there is no way she could have afforded kennels for that length of time and she can afford what I charge which is under half what a kennel charges plus she said she did not think they would have fared well in kennels - some dogs do some don't - some need that homecare one to one with the dog.
Just had another lady p/m me to look after her 2 small dogs for 1 month while she has to go back to the UK to sort out her move. They have one month left to go on their quarantine and then they can fly at the end of the month. They are being delivered on Monday to our house. Again she was let down at the last minute and she could not afford kennels and did not want them to go into kennels - she said one of her dogs was 9 years old and needed a loving home enviroment and one to one care .........
So let me know how yr new guest is doing. How long is he with u for?????????
Lots of love Shirleyannb

Much appreciated....any other ideas welcome!

Hi, Im new to the forum but this thread caught my eye. I had to go back to the UK a month ago as my father got Ill. I looked all over to find a pet sitter for my dog Coco, but I can refer Malibu09 who took my call very last minute and she said she would take her in. She treated her like a princess! She was great with her, she came back all groomed, and looking very happy.
If you need any more information then please Pm me and I will be happy to help you with anything else.

Hi Maxine - thankyou for taking the trouble out to mention Maibu09 and the services she offers. Currently we are helping each other with this service - we are opposite ends of Tenerife and we communicate alot. Currently I have 2 poodles for quaratine boarding for 7 months at my home and Monday taking 2 small dogs for their last month of their quaratine so the owner can go back to the UK to do last minute things. We offer a home pet sitting service and it is proving very popular, Emma (malibu09) in Las Chafiras - Golf de Sur and Amarillo Golf area and myself covering Santiago del Teide and Guia de Isora - we started our services because we can offer a good alternative to Kennels and we are more cost effective especially on a long boarding term - waiting for the 7 months quaratine. I will not knock Kennels because they do a fabulous job but not every doggie is good in Kennels.
So once again thankyou from both of us.

Re: I need some advice on long term pet boarding in Tenerife.
I've recently rescued a dog, and through a generous sponsorship offer, boarded her with Pete and Kate of Poochies Pet Hotel.
Pete and Kate found a home for her, looked after everything for me, and REALLY took care of her. I think that they were as sad as I was when she flew this morning.
I recommend you get in touch with them - they know their dogs very well, and do a LOT of un-sponsored work for animal organisations here in Tenerife - any "profits" made seem to go back to the dogs, via homing, neutering, flying, dog boxes, vaccinations, jabs, flea and worm treatments etc
I haven't had the chance yet, but will do a full write-up with photos over the coming few days.
YG has accompanied me on two occasions, and was equally impressed - although he went away wanting to home a beautiful abandoned retriever, so is now in the DOG house himself...

Hi Malibu09, just an update as promised reference my house move. We did the big move on Monday and it went very smoothly. The lovely 2 poodles were right at home digging the garden up - I am going to shingle the garden asap because the dirt gets everywhere and once shingled then no more mess. They love their new area in Piedra Hinchada .......it's a total doggy paradise with nearly every house there with a dog or three ...... we have opposite us 3 large boxers and they drown my dogs out completely with their barking ...... I have had the poodles now for 2 weeks and they have got 6 1/2 months to go before I can fly them back to the UK to their owner. The owner says she would not have been able to afford 7 months in kennels and what I charge is very good value for money and she knows her dogs are in a loving home enviroment and treated like on of my own. She said that 7 months in kennels would not have been any good for her poodles because of the nature of the dogs. They are really sweet and I am enjoying having them stay. I have room for one/two more little doggies long or short term is fine. If u have any that u cannot do then pass them over to me. Glad yr little dog is doing fine how much longer to u have him before the owner collects him???????????????
Re: I need some advice on long term pet boarding in Tenerife.
I would like to say i found both Pete and Kate very nice people to talk to on my two visits to their hotel.
Both really great with all the dogs there...and it shows in the dogs themselves who wont leave them alone...
They also give alot of their own money to fund other dogs on flights to Germany.. and feeding and vets bills ect...
I think if anyone is thinking about putting their pet in Trust with someone ...these two people come to the very top of my list...
Also have a very large garden for the pets to run around in...
Pet Poochies Hotel looks a great place for any dog...

Time maybe for an ad, ShirleyAnn, just like Malibu has taken out (Emma's Pet Sitting)
.. and I would be happy to sponsor an ad for Poochies as they have done so much for the welfare of dogs (and have just recently helped me out of a bind)
