I've been here 7 years and haven't found the stuff similar to what I used at home at all - I think it was wood, sawdust, based and was in pellets which then expanded into powder when wet (handy, as it lasted longer than the rotten clay stuff. I use to buy it in a massive bag/sack which I am sure was only about £12ish

In the North, in the big supermarkets Carrefour and El Campo, also Corte Ingles, all have big pet sections and a larger selection of litters. They are all expensive and I haven't found a suitable replacement as such so I have been using Mercadona clay stuff (plain or scented) or buying the same stuff in larger bags at Carrefour.

Pets shops and vets here are all VERY expensive but another place to try (I was in yesterday for vet cat food) is the big petshop & vet in Los C - come in to Cristianos, down through the bus station (on the left), through the traffic lights and it is second block on the left. I'm sorry, don't know what it is called.

If you are familiar with the English Bookswap, it is round the corner and through all the cafes (heading away from the bus station).

If you have any success in finding wood-based litter, would you let me know as it is my litter of choice.

If you go to a local saw mills you can get sawdust or wood shavings free you just bag it up yourself.

In Altesa they do Sanicat for under 3€ a bag. Each bag lasts a month, as it's the absorbing deodorant crystals one.
