A Latvian man flew to Tenerife to murder his ex-girlfriend
Police in Santa Cruz have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the murder of the Latvian woman stabbed to death outside her flat in San Miguel de Abona last week.
The suspect, also Latvian, was detained in the centre of the Tenerife capital after a 4-day surveillance of Internet cafés in the Calle Castillo area. Officers also travelled on the city's tram network for several days after a confirmed sighting of the suspect, who police say flew from Latvia to Tenerife to commit the crime and had already sent a series of SMS death threats to his former partner. It is believed he gained access to her flat by disguising himself.

I think News Canarias are being a little sensationalist - it was reported earlier in the week (here)that the suspect they were looking for in the case of the murdered young (Latvian) woman in Guargacho was her ex husband, also Latvian, who had residencia papers issued in Valencia.
