Tenerife has 18 roads where driving is particularly hazardous, according to the Cabildo. A new study has identified a total of 41 accident black spots on the 18 roads, including the notorious bend on the motorway at El Sauzal in the north of the island.

Other black spots identified are the tunnels at Güímar (both directions), the TF-64 between Granadilla and El Médano and various parts on the TF-655 between Las Chafiras and Los Cristianos. Four spots posing particular danger have also been identified on a 12km stretch of the motorway from Santa Cruz, south of the airport.

Reading previous letters about driving in Tenerife, have you noticed if there is any Police presence at all, everybody drives better, so why do the Police not ride along the Motorway, like they do in Britain, this would probably stop half the idiot drivers, and the girls are worse than the boys.

They do the Guardia patrol often, and the motorbike police are always whizzing up and down swerving towards the side of you to get a better look if you have your belt on.
