EFE, The Nudist Association of Tenerife (Naturaten) considers it illegal that the Ayuntamiento de Granadilla has prohibited nudism on part of La Tejita beach because the fundamental rights of individual liberty are violated in the Constitution.
the president of EFE, Miguel Ramírez, announced that the Ayuntamiento de Granadilla, which is governed by Coalición Canarias, tomorrow anticipates to approve that the police will regulate the public uses in this natural spot protected by El Médano.
The president of Naturaten has sent a letter of protest to the local government, in which he expressed "the measure is absurd", and that "there are advantages of practicing nudism as a way of life".
Ramírez considers that the "regulation is ridiculous" and that they have to value the use of the public spaces to establish "different measures, such as contamination, rather than persecute the people that have chosen to live in this way".
It is expected that the Ayuntamiento will "rectify" and not give "wrong steps".
The councillor for the Environment, Antonio Cabrera, explained that the ordinance affects "only a part of the beach" on the sand and leaves space for the nudists "in the coves".
It added that it is "a good measure" because "it will permit regulation of all the coastal strip" where there is great activity from windsurfers and bathers "above all in summer".
Cabrera assured that the document has been agreed by consensus with various neighborhood collectives and insisted that is not against nudism.
The spokesman of the PSOE in the Ayuntamiento de Granadilla, Jaime González Cejas, said it is "nonsense" and that "the rights of the people should be respected".
