That's correct. Strikes are planned for 27th, 28th & 29th May - 30th is a bank holiday, as it's Canarian Day, then there are 2 more strike days of 2nd and 3rd June... taking the total time off from Tues 27th right through until Tues 3rd June... i.e. 7 days.

Whats your take on this Kirsty? As you work in a school, you must know a lot of teachers. Are they justified do you think? What it is they are after anyway, more money, or better conditions?

Although my daughter loves these strike days, we are getting concerned about her education. She never seems to be in school! What do other parents think?
As a worker in a school (who is not actually part of the strikes, I might add) I share your concerns... and so do the teachers! I was talking to my associates this week and they have said that the Consejeria are basically cutting all talks. As they lose pay every day they strike, they are talking about not striking anymore and using the money they would lose taking the day off for the strike to instead, club together and pay for a decent abogado and jointly denounce the Consejeria.
A better idea, methinks, as the only people that lose out from a strike are the teachers on pay, and the parents and kids on education.
You have to understand, the teachers who are striking have not had a rise in 12 YEARS. I can understand WHY they are striking, but unfortunately, it's getting them nowhere.
Watch this space!

Thanks Kirsty, I was interested to hear an "insiders" take on it. As you say there are no winners. Lets hope they get what they need and can get back to normal. I´m sure the decision to strike is not taken lightly.

I know from the strikes a few weeks back that the school still had to take the children in for the day, ( although no lessons) Do you still think may be the same for the coming strikes,,

Linda
