Raiders stole €160,000 from Caja Rural de Tenerife bank branch in Las Chafiras

A branch of the Caja Rural de Tenerife bank in Las Chafiras opened yesterday to discover that raiders had stolen 160,000 euros from the safe.

The robbery occurred in the early hours of the morning. The raiders disconnected the electricity supply to the bank to prevent the alarm from ringing and then broke into the building next door, where they opened a large hole in the adjoining wall to enter the branch. Police say the robbers must have spent considerable time on the job, given that they had to break open the safe to access the contents. The branch was closed temporarily on Thursday morning to enable police to take evidence from the scene. The raid is the latest in a series of robberies in banks in south Tenerife, although it is the first involving the hole in the wall method.

Sounds like there's a business opportunity for someone that can install a decent alarm system.

For a few hunderd euro you can buy alarm systems that send an SMS direct to youre mobile and a sms or speatch text to police with wat kind of alarm that whent of and where .

I even have one that sends me instand pictures on my mobile so i know whats happening .

All works without the main electicity supply , so if they cut it of it still works .

Think these banks are not up to date with the technology out there

Hopefully its yust the bank that lost money and not the clients (or their safes).

Coo...I am up for a party

I can admit to admiring their guts...is that naughty of me....

It is another part of me that wishes I had more fun in my life...just could not live with the guilt afterwards

No, I'm with you - if the bottle, and knowledge, were there, the temptation would be enormous.... The downside, I'd have to confess I'd done it

My boy wouldn't do that.

Can't wait until Thursday his dad and two of his mates are coming out for 10 days and my son has said he will take us out to dinner every evening, he is taking his sister and I on a shopping spree and also offered to pay for the pool I want in the garden.

His pocket money goes a lot further here than it did in England
