This hotel was refurbished last year. The street outside was also pedestrianised last year and there are many forums containing posts of quite a negative nature about it. Remember to read the date when reading the reviews as its now completely done and is very nice.

Me and Mrs Makum often spend a Sunday down by their pools which are brand new and very swish and relaxing. it can get busy in peek periods therefore you may need to be up before 10am to grab a lounger. Email them about a month before you go and request a sea view (not a street view).

Enjoy yourself, its a really nice hotel

Bouganville Playa

Dear Mackum (are you there are you here?????) I am here.....here being Boldon. We have wonderful sunshine (miracles do happen...Thank You Lord!!!) Back to the point.... Just got back (6th June) from the Bouganville Playa. Everything back to normal. Must say Mackum, they have done a lovely job on the road and it seems the businesses around there must have got a nice compensation from the council, as they are having all kinds of things done to smarten them up!!! Back to the hotel. Staff...efficient and nice as ever. (Reception, Bar, Restaurant and room staff) The hotel is as ever...spotless. How on earth they get that floor in the entrance to shine like that is a miracle. To be honest, the refurb seems to have been mostly external from what I can see. The rooms are the same, the restaurant the same, bars etc. some new furniture in these areas but nothing else I can see. However, the rooms are fine, bathrooms nice (with the usual toiletries provided (so don't bring your own!) also the hairdryer is right next to the mirror in the bathroom (one of the only hotels to do this!!) so leave your dryer at home!! (trying to save you weight I'm all heart aren't I?) There is also a fridge in the room, which you can use FREE (or at least I always do, and no one has said anything!) The two pool areas are nice (although the beds are a little crowded - it's a huge hotel so I suppose they have to do this) The meals are fine. Entertainment is not!!! (but this goes for every 4 star hotel I have ever been to in Tenerife - so not really a problem) Personally if I were the manager, I would employ some good acts, and get the punters to stay in the hotel.... Makes sense to me!!!!! Oh yes, you can also leave your poolside towels at home too...These are provided free of charge every day. You leave a deposit on arrival, but get it back when you check out. The rooms are all good at this hotel. Views of the sea all around. One side views of Las Americas and the coast and the other the Marina, the sea and my favourite....the mountains. You choose. All in all, I can recommend the hotel, especially as they seem to beat all other 4 star hotel deals in the brochures. Give it a go. ( I was there in December 2005 as well as May/June this year and I'll no doubt be back!) If the Manager reads this........I want two bottles of champagne this time okay??? God loves a tryer!!!!!!!

No wonder I couldn't get a good sunbed by the pool, with all those Mackums coming in and pinching the beds!!!!! Typical Mackum cheek....you would never catch us Geordies doing such a thing now would you?!!!!!
Sunderland for the Cup! (Don't know which life time though! xxx Hey!!.... I love these smilies...could play with them all day

Are you going to get me started?

... Well ... a long, long time ago (just before the wheel was invented ) ... in a land far away ... my friend was the entertainments manager/compere at this hotel ... and it isn't an easy job.

Remember that the idea of 'entertainement' is to get people in, and to get them spending in the bar. It's a difficult job.

If you put on good entertainment, people sit and watch and don't spend any money.

If you put on +r+p entertainment -they don't go at all.

Oh dear .... chapter 'whatever' in my book

Either is OK for people watching

Street view will give both pool and side sea view
