ecky thump (27th June 2009)
Some may be aware I started the Photographic Group some months ago.
I felt (and still do) that there was a rich seam of expertise to be tapped
within this Forum.
We now are up to 17 Members, and are still unable to access the Group
or postings/discussions.
As a result I have decided to withdraw and wonder if rather than close it down, someone else may wish to take over.
With a Forum of over 15k Members there is a great potential for advancement.
I still wish to remain as Member if or when its fixed.
I apologise sincerely for something entirely out of my control.![]()
ecky thump (27th June 2009)
I have a lot of old photographs going back to family times in black, white and sepia-tinted (long before I was born!!!) There are too many to keep and I am going to try and scan the best ones and organize them along with the digital ones on my computer. I've been told that this is an extremely slow process. Is there a new piece of technology which could speed this up? There are at least 300 I MUST keep!
Thank you.
Chocolate, music and smiling bring universal happiness.
A couple of years ago, I finally scanned all Holiday Pics from 1887 onwards.
These were in Albums for Safe-keeping and storage in a cool dark place.
Because of poor standards at certain Photo Labs, some Prints had deteriorated and needed doing as soon as possible.
Believe Me, it was the best thing I could have done, as I now have them sorted by Year, and Location.
So far as I know, there is no easier alternative, except to contact a person
to do it all for You.
I have also backed up the files to (hopefully) avoid any Loss of
irreplaceable memories.
I still have about 500 loose and assorted Photographs to do, and this Post
is my own personal nudge to get my finger out.!!! It doesnt take THAT long
Do them one at a time, I promise with the screen view you will be very happy.
Good Luck

Thank you, Warbey. You've really encouraged me to make a start and it's a good idea to use backup.
Changing the subject a little: maybe we could put a few sepia photographs here of Tenerife? Some people have before of Los Cristianos in 'olden days' but modern ones would also look good. My digital camera has a sepia facility.
I'll give it a try when next on holiday on the island. It will add a different dimension.

I o0nce managed a small Photo Shop.
We used to do various work on old Photos and newer ones too.
Usual thing, Poles growing out of heads, plants coming out of ears etc,
and the usual cracks through bending.
One Day a Youngish Girl came in and asked me to alter a Wedding Photograph from colour to Black and White.
She was right, it was an Improvement!.
There are a few Programs (Free) You can do some adjustments on
when You get Your Photos scanned and on Your Computer System.
I am sure B+W is possible and probably Sepia too.
Who knows, You may already have that Good Shot. on a Memory Card somewhere.
Good Luck
P.S. I have not started yet !

OK, the gauntlet is down! Modern Tenerife in black and white or sepia-tinted photos. They will add something different to the gallery.
