Now I'm a bit biased, as I've been a member of
Armada Sur for a number of years now, and I'm also in charge of the website for the fanclub, however the first time I went to see a match I was workin for The Paper and I went along to write an article on the fanclub...
4 years later, I'm still a member and go to as many games as I can... however due to having two children to a bloke I met at that first game, it's not as easy as it once was!
All I can say about the trip is as follows...
It's cheap. Compared to a UK Premiership game, the coach and ticket to the match is peanuts! 30€ (about 20 quid) for non-residents, residents get a discount and if you become a member of the fanclub it gets cheaper still.
The coach picks up from a bar in Torviscas Alto called the
Toby Jug, then it stops at the
Royal Oak II in Las Americas and it also picks up at the Las Chafiras exit of the TF1 motorway for people living/staying on the Golf/Costa del Silencio or surrounding areas.
You can drink on the coach (so bring a few tinnies), as long as you respect it, as it's usually not allowed.
The coach stops at a bar on the way up for further refeshments and a 'rest' break.
Once in Santa Cruz, you are dropped off at a bar close to the ground where you have about an hour to get a little more 'refreshed' or have a look around the stalls outside the ground for souvenirs if you prefer.
Once in the ground you CANNOT drink, however you CAN stand, sing and wave flags! You can't do that at a Chelsea game!
The team currently play in the Segunda A division, which is similar to the Championship in the UK.
All in all, it's a damn good day out and there's a fantastic atmosphere.
Give it a go!

Armada Sur website for details of fixtures, results and how to attend.
