Well Andy these "tactics" are obviously working for some bars. If you drive round past Scotch Corner you will see we are always busy! I find what most of the tourists want in our area is somewhere "cheap and cheerful" and we are happy to oblige! It may not be everyones cup of tea (back to the "snob" thread!!) but we give the holidaymakers what they want and they keep coming back, which makes me a happy bunny and gives my bank manager a wee bit less stress!!
Price wasn't considered important, the way we work is if somewhere is always busy then it must be good and you are always busy.
To be truthful if somewhere is cheap i question the quality of the food and the quality of the produce if they can buy it so cheap, i was out with my lad yesterday and he loves steak, we saw a bar funnily enough in Fanabe with Steak, Chips and Salad 3.75 and 1 pints.
He pestered me to go in for it and i wouldn't do, instead we ate somewhere more expensive, i'm not saying it wouldn't have been as good and it may well have been better than where we ate but the low price put me off!
All i am saying is this may be the case in Puerto Colon and surrounding areas.
I've never had a humble opinion. If you've got an opinion, why be humble about it?

I must say I,ve eaten around porto colon area for a number of years and I can honestly say that I've never had a really bad meal, you know,bad enough to leave it and walk out. You must make allowances according to the price you pay.The reason I usually take my custom elsewhere is because of slow and indifferent service, and behaviour of other customers. Another thing that do put me off is aggressive P.R. sell. I think a good place will build it's own reputation with just a bit of discreet advertising.
Just to inform everyone that the westcountry bar has been bought by one of my family and it will be taken over in the first week of december, so there will be changes shortly so come and give it a try in december, the staff will be much friendlier than the current ones thats a guarantee
