I am a tourist and I have been drinking on Puerto Colon for many years, in fact even prior to the Slow Boat opening it's doors.
I always try out new bars and take advantage of their cheap offers however I always seem to gravitate towards one particular bar - It is definitely not the cheapest but the bar staff are efficient and welcoming. Last Tuesday evening was a particularly interesting evening of entertainment.

if you're so sure of your convictions why not put up two big signs up in the bar, and two outside showing the prices you charge tourists and the cheaper prices you charge locals.I've been coming to the reef for the past fifteen years, usually twice a year staying in the porto colon area and doing at least90% of my drinking and eating there. I don't particulary pick a place because its cheap. I've most likely been in your place but I assure you, if I find out the name of your bar I won't be there again

If you had been in the bar on a regular basis then i would know you and we wouldn't be having this conversation and you would have been paying a local price....maybe i didn't make myself clear. The cheaper price is given to all people who use the bar on a regular basis, locals or tourists. By way of a thank you for their custom in these hard times because going back to your original remark, we do rely on our local trade as do most bars. Our workers here do not earn as much as people doing the same job in England but still like to go out so cest la vie Davan, will look out for you next time your around
Most of my regular customers, tourists and locals are Welsh and i'm sure they would like to meet you. They're quite a friendly bunch and love a good debate so welcome

i know a few bars that also do pints for a euro and i cant blame them when things are like they are at the moment.
a friend of mine who owns a bar who informs me mums and dads have a beer @ 1 euro each but the kids will have a coke each a couple packs of crisp use the internet maybe, and ok dont make much on the beer if any but other things like coffees and snacks ect can make up for it.i guess its about trying to stay in business and no one can blame any one for that.

how can one take up such a generous offer when the name and location of your esteemed bar is kept under wraps.
DAVAN
Hi Davan,
It's not my bar so it's not really for me to advertise but i have worked there for too many years than i care to remember...if you know Puerto Colon at all and take note of this thread then it's not rocket science to work out. Anyway let us know when you are coming you are more than welcome.Whereabouts in Wales are you from???????

How have you worked out that a lot of your patrons are welsh?-- are they jabbering away in that weird language or are they sat around with leeks stuck in their ears, and their favourite sheep on a bit of string with them
davan
Is that what you do then, i think i would have noticed you!!!!! Most of my welsh friends are from South Wales, and yes they do jabber a bit but don't normally bring sheep in but if you have one you would like to bring along i'm sure it would be most welcome and it wouldn't have to pay either![]()

If Mr. Miserable is allowed to bring his Baa Baa in, can I bring in my 7 hounds for free bevvies?![]()
