hi folks just been to bar 39. never again went there to watch Elvis comedian went in at 10 0 clock and told by p a that elvis was on at 11 o clock. Payed deared prices for the drinks to pay for the artist and guess what at 20 passed eleven we were told that because it there were not enough people in the artist was cancelled. Been going there since bar was opened but wont be going there again ( If you advarrtise something you should provide what you advertise ) or at least tell your customers when they arrive that there has been a change. Good job i dont ron my business that way.

Lets be honest, the heavens were opened yesterday, it tipped it down............ most will have stayed in their apartments/hotels rather than venture out.................. however, the cabaret bars endevour to bring entertainment and still advertise, with the hope that the bar will have turned over enough money to pay the compere and the act.
Many times a bar will cance an artiste then tell the audience that they 'haven't turned up', making it look bad on the artiste rather than the bar.
This bar are being straight and saying, look, there is not enough people in her.......... we can't put the act on.
Now the speculate to accumulate argument could come in here.............. however, I can guarantee the 80% of acts were cancelled on the island last night due to either weather conditions or lack of people. The hotel shows were all ok though

Thanks UG. The lads were on all night and did their Beatles show so there was entertainment on, but yes Elvis was cancelled because the takings couldnt sustain Kracka and a cabaret. It is very rare that this happens, but the speculate to accumulate theory wouldnt have worked as there was no one on the street apparently. This week in December is one of the quietest in the whole year and cutbacks sometimes have to made. No one likes it, especially the acts, but we do appreciate that in bars where we have been put on most weeks of the year we have to take the rough with the smooth. I doubt Kevin would have been too upset by it.

You mean it wasn't the real Elvis!! - no wonder there was no one in.
Being an act and a compere like Suzie Q and uptowngirl, it can be very hard to "suss" out a night from 9 pm...especially with rain and the last week before Xmas
I know that Bar 39 prides itself on putting acts on regardless, some bars will leave it til the last minute to cancel... 11.20 is a bit off mind, and I can completely agree with the op for their opinions...
But I have a sneaky feeling knowing Krackas reputation it may well have been more like 11.10 maximum...
I dont think you should "diss" this bar so quickly as they have a good line up and are very professional...

Im sorry to hear you missed Elvis as he is a really good act, as said by Uptown Girl tho at least they were up front with you, I think Kracka are a great duo & enjoyed watching them on each visit to Bar39 so Im sure you were well entertained if a little disapointed.

I think bar 39 is a great little bar. I go in a couple of times a week and have no complaints. The owner is alway friendly and welcomeing and the lady behind the bar could not be nicer. Inside is very nice decor and the toilets are spotless, they must of spent a lot of money make it look so good. There is a terrace on the front and it is fun to watch the world go by.
I would recommend this bar to anyone visiting or a resident

I've been in the bar a few times and really enjoyed myself everytime I'm in, although the prices a bit pricey but guess you have to pay for the entertainment. If a bar is not busy how can they put an act on when they not making money, there is no way they'd be able to survive. people should look at the bigger picture before complaining bout something that is unavoidable!!
