Port Royale Apartment Owners, Los Cristianos, Tenerife

The pool bar in Port Royale has been closed a good while. Any comments on owners and residents as to why? whether they would like to see it open and if so how would they like to see it run

You are perfectly correct ... although that is quite an understatement

It has only been open for a few weeks since the development opened in 1989 !!! It isn't the sort of complex where a pool bar would generate sufficient income.

It used to be used as storage by the restaurant on site ... although I think that they only rent it.

Mike answered the query for you hopefully! - however it would be nice if a forum for Port Royale could start off - dont know how many owners etc are out there??
If there is, can anyone tell me if the rumours are true that a new telephone system incorporating broadband is being installed on the complex?
I have emailed Reception about it but never get an answer

Mac, further to Mike's reply I think there were problems as to who owned the pool bar, it might still be owned by resort properties (?) and they wouldnt give permission for anyone else to open a bar there.

Just found your thread! I am owner on Port Royale. Have been for a number of years. Would love any one else's opinions of life there! I only inhabit for part of the year but would love comments! Nice place but we do keep ourselves to ourselves. Don't like to get too involved in the "politics" of the place!

That is only true as far as the legal situation is concerned - which was what I assume the question was about.

Other than that, it's like no other place that I know of. The community doesn't have any sort of problem with renting, but they are very strict on maintaining the standards on the development. You will never see rubbish bags lying around or towels over balconies etc. Well, you may, but it is quicky attended to.

The development is a unique mixture of residencial, own holiday use and rentals. It tends to attract a more up-market type of guest - goodness, that sounds snobish ... but it's true. As such rental income tends to be higher than the norm.

It has a heated pool. Full sat TV. Automatic phone system for incoming, outgoing and internal calls. ADSL available by the month if required.

I lived there for 15 years - PM me if you want more info.

Port Royale

It is nice to hear from other owners on Port Royale. I have lived there in winter only for the last 8 years and love the place but I can understand some people not liking the hill - however for me that is more than compensated for by the lovely views and the peace and quiet at night.
I think we have an excellent committee there at the moment who are keeping the complex in tip top condition but it would be nice if everyone could mix a little more, as there is no pool bar there isnt really a focal point for discussions - there did use to be monthly meetings for owners around the pool but they seem to have stopped now.
Perhaps we could all use this forum a little more the way Dinastia and El Mirador owners are doing?

That's what it's here for... why don't you stick a note with the forum address on it under all the owners' doors and then you can get together for chats on here

I am certain that this was true at one point, but my understanding is that this has changed somewhat lately, with a stronger community dislike of rentals ... if so, this will inevitably find its way into the committee.

I stand to be corrected here if this is incorrect..... indeed I would love it to be incorrect!
