    las chafiras

Hiya, Yes we have lived her for nearly three years, gosh doesnt time fly over here !!! We bought this house off plan at a good price, and since then they have gone up quite a bit, so it was a good investment for us. They are going to build a park down the road from us, roughly where Jardin San Miguel is, which is going to be really good apparantely, but dont know how long that one will take!!! Just miss being able to go for walks, as it is still a building site around us, and a lot of people have dogs which scare the living daylights out of me when they bark !! I am still happy living here though, as I do think Las Chafiras is an up and coming area, they are landscaping around our estate now, so it will look so much better.

Hola Margaretta. Nice to see you here at last

Is it usual for only the residents to hear about community meetings?
It is a not unusual I am told but it is unscrupolous

According to the laws governing such community meetings written notice has to be given to all owners regardless and they must allow sufficient time for the post to arrive and for people to make arrangements to attend.

Failure to do so can render the meeting unconstitutional and any decisions can be challenged by the agrieved parties.

At least thats what the laws states but then this is TENERIFE

If I were you I would notify the person conveening the meeting that you are not satisfied and make him/her aware that you consider the arrangements to be invalid and reserve the right to challenge any decisions taken without your knowledge.

    All the best Peter

    The President

You are legally bound to have one. In fact you cant have a meeting without one.

Lovely as it is it is very annoying not to be kept informed, as you might realise we are not in Tenerife full time at the moment but hope to be very soon! but as things go it might be a little late by then to have any imput
Will have to wait and see what the builders reply to my email is whats the word manana
    Hiya

Well as coincedence would have it I stay in the same complex.

Just to put your mind at ease, u have NOT been uninformed per say. The meeting was NOT a community meeting. It is too long, and confidential matter to tell you what is happening on here, but if you want to know more, PM me and can arrange to tell you.

The builders probably wont reply or be able to tell you what happened. THey will probably tell you, if anything, that there wasnt a community meeting, which there wasnt.

Anyway, waiting to return soon to beautiful Tenerife. In the meantime it's great to join this forum.

    Hi Margaretta,

That name reminds me of an ex girlfriend, but I wont hold that against you, I have no doubt you are a nice person lol

As you may or may not have seen from a post to Blue Marlin, The meeting which took place on Saturday was NOT a community meeting hence the reason you didnt get your letter. Not that it would have been a surprise that CTCOP didnt send you one even if it had.

As I said in other post its too long a story to say hear what happened, and it is kind of confidentail. PM me and can arrange to tell you the low down.

    Hi SparkyBear
    Look forward to your views
It was my neighbour in Tenerife that told me about the meeting could have been crossed wires about it being a community meeting but hay it still would have been nice to know it would have been a good excuse to return

    Hi Peter,
We still don't know who the so called president is or was as like I said we had no communication from the last meeting and on our last visit no one was able to tell us who it was the plot thickens

What sometimes happens especially with the smaller developers is they will install their own "presidente" and administrators at least for the first year or so to run the Community Association once more than 50% have completed at Notary and occupied their property.

They do this, especially if they still own a percentage of the apartments, in an effort to thwort the other owners from adding things such as heating the pools or additional security measures etc or other such expenses which as co-owners the builder would have to contribute towards.

You will probably find the Presidente and Administrators are the builders own lawyers or an executive of the company.

Its not so much that they will do a bad job or rip anyone off its just a stalling technique along with "forgetting" to inform overseas owners of meetings or delaying the post so that the meetings have actually taken place by the time you receive the notivces and mislaying the actual minutes of the meetings etc etc which can all be very frustrating for those that want to get things moving.
