The West Country Inn, Puerto Colon, Tenerife

Hi folks just letting you know about a nice little bar ive just found in puerto colon, run by an english couple Dave and his wife, they serve food every day light snacks such as burgers, toasties, jacket spuds {various fillings}, salads, pie and chips. they have san miguel on draft at 1 euro a pint untill 8pm, sky sports, karaoke and coming soon live entertainment, singers comedians etc, open every day from 12pm untill late, except fridays, this bar has only been open a few months but im sure will become a well established bar soon. you will find the bar on the middle level of the centre in puerto colon facing the harbour.

Ok, but please don´t forget that some folks might be up for this type of deal.
Or even if they aren´t , you may have just put folks off by stopping off for a beer/coffee/snack etc.

come on fellas, its not really fair to put certain touristic venues down,.
Unless of course you have had first hand bad experiences.

There is a lot of negative vibes out there at the moment, I am a big believer in not pre- judging. I go by my own instincts, i.e., I go with what I like and what I feel comfortable iwith. Plus I know what what suits ME.
Studio and 1 bed available to let in Los Cristianos
    PM for details.

I feel really sorry for alot of the bar owners in Tenerife it must be so hard for them to make a living at the moment.

Nope sorry not harsh at all, you walk round Puerto Colon and see for yourself, starting at Scotch Corner and Matlocks, 2 English brekkies for 5€, then head down the port, its the same down there.
Almost every bar is doing large beers for 1€ during the day, cheap as chip meals, i could name a bar that was doing Steak Pie,Mash, Peas and Gravy for 2€ then a pint for another 1€. Taffs corner was doing large DORADA for 5-c until 6, wonder why he isn't there any more??????????????
Imagine 4 blokes eating and getting a beer for 3€, not much over £2.50, then the bars complain they aren't making any money.
I know from first hand experience the problems with Puerto Colon, it is a tired complex, it needs money spending on it, lets face it with Fanabe and Del Duque as its closest neighbours would you rather tread the spotless paths and the golden sand or would you rather fall down the grubby, broken tiled stairs?
Lets face it what does cheap brekkies and 1€ pints attract?
If they all worked together and charged the same prices, for example at least 2€ for a large beer then people wouid pay it as they wouldn't know any different and maybe the area could start to regenerate or else it will end up the same way as Silencio has gone.
And before anyone starts i love Silencio, its a great place and i have fond memories of holidays there and still enjoy playing darts in the League over there but does it still have tourist population????????????

Just noticed the above in the original post, i rest my case!
Average rent on the port about 1500 - 2000 euros.
Beer is about 90€ a barrel, 88 pints in a barrel, sell about 82 pints after spillages and pulling the new barrel off etc.
So one barrel makes brings in 82 euros, bought for 90, thats a loss of 8€ in my book ok maybe one in three free so for every four barrels sold maybe 80€ made.
Do the sums and then hopefully you will see where i am coming from with this topic, cheap isn't always good, especially if it will see you out of business eventually!

I've never had a humble opinion. If you've got an opinion, why be humble about it?
