    Solar energy in Tenerife

I have come across this website for Solar Panel installation after hours of searching on the net, so I thought I'd post it here for anyone that is eco-conscious on the forum...

    http://www.agener.com/origen.html

as per information that Seaward posted in the News section, Granadilla council offer grants for installing solar power. If I find any information about other Municipalities that offer similar grants, I'll post the info. I'm trying to find out whether mine does at the moment!!!

If you want a g-g-g-grant you MUST obtain the kit and installation from specific vendors only. These Vendors bid and won the respective government contracts to supply under the g-g-g-grant system

Its a Europe wide EU directive. (In fact the US and Canada are involved too). Back in Blighty while working for the UK Cent Gov I came across its Solar Dept. I'll get in touch and get the Spanish equivalent dept details for you.

That would be lovely. I want to find out as much about this as poss, as I was thinking of getting it done on my house... and I think everyone needs encouragement to find other renewable sources of energy. Where would the oil barons be if we didn't need their oil anymore?!

pushing the poor immigrants off the boats so they can get here.

i have checked out loads of solar providers and the prices ain´t cheap even with the so-called 50% grant.
cheapest i could find was a 40w system that would power you´re hot water heater and you´re fridge for about 20 years and costs about 800 euros without installation(you can do it you´reself but does not qualify for the grant system).
the cheapest home system was about 2500 euros but from a non affiliated installer so you still won´t get the grant.
p.s. if you wan´t it to take over full power of you´re home at 230v then a qualified leccy must fit it.

    hi back again

the total cost to power a full home at 1800w continuous output at 230volts(same as the power grid) from solar power is 7000 euros with fitting but you will not get the grant to make this cheaper.
it´s rated life time is 10 years without maintenance(well you still have to clean it) and 25+ years with good maintenance(about 30 euros a year).
you would need space for the panels and the battery enclosure on you´re roof(or an outhouse) about 4 sqr meters would do and permission from the town council to erect them
and for a 1 bed appartment at 1000w continuous output at 230volts from solar power with fitting would be 4000 euros. the information above also applies to this.
anyone want more info please feel free to pm me.

    Smile Solar energy

I have heard that as of Janurary by law all new builds have to have solar panels installed for energy production If this is true it seems a really good idea to me as it will save €€ on the electric bills and make good use out of Tenerife Plus will create a load of trade for all solar panel fitters

as far as i have heard(and i may be wrong) this is the fitting of solar hotwater heaters they havn´t realy caught on to solar electricity production here.
if any one would like to have solar hot water 24/7 check out the system in the canarian exchange.
