Is there anywhere in Tenerife I can get a digital photo enlarged and put onto canvas?

Me again

I seem to be asking lots of questions this week.

Does anyone know if there's anywhere in Tenerife where I can get a digital photo enlarged and transfered onto canvas please ........ it's possible in the UK, but I'm not going back for sometime and wanted it for a gift for a friend

tnx

Photo to canvas

Hi balcon,

I know a place in the North, its called Imprenta MAPER

POLIGONO IND. SAN JERONIMO,
C/ MOLINOS DE GOFIO, NAVE 18, MANZANA 5
38312 SAN JERONIMO - LA OROTAVA (TENERIFE)

Tel.: 922 326 044 (you may want to call to ask they can actually do what you need done).

There's an exit off the north motorway called P.I. San Jerónimo. Locate a largeish Hiper Dino supermarket. Maper is (more or less) opposite that.

Good luck

Hello there, I believe a new company called Nu Arte based in San Isidro can also do this - please mention K9 Tenerife if you contact them. The lady's name is Angie Hill.

Its done on a digital large format plotter, so most companies that make signs may be able to if they can get the canvas. I noticed a shop with that sort of equipment in the arcade behind Zara (pdla) or try 1st Impressions ( Chafiras ) or Ideart in Buzanada. good luck !

Enlarging a Digital Image is tricky without significantly reducing image quality.

Generally speaking for every 300 pixels wide by every 300 pixels in height a digiital image is, you can print 1 square inch (300 pixels x 300 pixels = 1 square inch). This is known as printing at 300 dpi (dots per inch).

So a 1200x900 pixel image can be printed to be 4 inches by 3 inches in size

If you want to print the same sized digital image in larger format, you must print fewer pixels per inch. Say you printed the same image at 150 dpii (newspaper quality) you could render the image at 8 inches by 6 inches.

Held at arms length the photo would look OK, but up close graininess would appear.

The only way to enlarge a digital image without visibly reducing quality is to use a Raster Image Processor (RIP) which employs smoothing an interpolation algorithms to produce a better result. Look for a printer that offers this service.

Still as a general rule, unless its for a poster or a rendering that will be viewed from at least several feet away enlarging a digital image is always going to produce inferior results. This is where a 12 mega-pixel camera which produces A3+ size prints @ 300 dpi comes in handy.
