Are there quiet and cheap areas to rent long-term in Tenerife?

we are probably considering moving to tenerife in about 18 months time, we are presently in australia for 2 years, we are from uk. Is it possible to rent long term in tenerife at a reasonable cost, we are seniors, so we would not be looking for somewhere where there is a lot of noise and activity, but as we have friends who live in playa americas, we would like to be somewhere there if possible anty advice, thanks

18 Months? Obviously being down under you haven't heard the bad news?
We all have to evacuate the Island in the next six to nine months, the Volcano is due to erupt in June next year, i'm surprised your friends haven't mentioned this? Maybe they don't know? I would speak with them asap to see if they know about this, wow, it is possible you could save their lives if they don't know about it.
Everyone on the Island is talking about it and busy preparing, right at this moment you can't get a flight off the Island!
Google it and find out more, its horrendous, a living nightmare we stand to lose everything!
Airlines are saying flights are available and taking bookings but its to make money fast as they know Tenerife is almost finished, people are turning up at the airport and there are over 2000 people with tickets for the same flight.
Why do you think the exchange rate is so low at the moment?
Nobody is coming here just in case it happens earlier!
Save yourselves while you can!

Angry Renting long term in Tenerife

Not funny Andy.

Don't you realise that some people come on here to find genuine answers to genuine questions.

Some people will believe what you are saying. If you are trying to drive the tourist industry into decline, then you are going the right way about it.

Wow chillax newbie, sometimes you need a laugh and this is a good place to get one being a good balance between seriousness and humour, if you care to look through my posts you will see that i am one of the most helpful people on here. Then again if you was criticising me after more than 10 posts you would realise that.
And as for me driving the tourist industry in Tenerife into decline single handedly then i think i am about five years too late to even start to do that, boy i have been blamed for a lot of things in my time but to be the downfall of Tenerife due to one humerous post, well if thats the case i am probably the most powerful man on the planet!

We can only endorse what Andy says . . .
We were very lucky to get off the island when we did, and are now in exile in Cornwall.
We left everything behind and left with just the clothes we stood in and 2 cases.
I do understand however that humanitarian aid will be available nearer the time via National Lottery Funding, with a mass relocation program to La Gomera being the most likely option.
Meanwhile in Cornwall, we pass the time by directing tourists to Porthemit.
