Does anyone know if I can buy dress patterns in Tenerife? I have been to El Kilo in Valle san Lorenzo and although it's a dress maker's paradise, they don't sell dress patterns.

I used to buy the German magazine Burda here and trace the patterns from their centerfold pattern inserts. Quite a job though as you have to buy tracing paper or white tissue paper (papel de lija), some carbon paper and a tracing wheel and have a good eye to trace as several patterns are superimposed on each other on the same page. I did manage to do it though and made myself jackets and things when I was in a sewing period some time ago.

There is a sewing shop in the appollo centre i dont know if they sell them if not ask crissysew here on the forum she does alterations so i am sure she will know if there is anything local.

thers a great shop in Los Cristianos, that have pattern books and all patterns in stock, very upto date ....... just walk past the church and you will see the walkway goes straight down to the beach or a little narrow passageway to the left, take the narrow passageway, where you will see a secondhand bookshop on the left, then a leather shop and then a great cafe, the sewing shop is opposite the cafe ....... they have everything you want for sewing or knitting

Thanks everyone...that's really helpful. I'm off to Los Cristianos tomorrow on a pattern hunt!! I'm pleased as punch now!
