Buying Coeliac and Gluten/wheat free foods and products in Tenerife

Hi,

I am seeking information regarding Local supermarkets, and what Wheat/Gluten free products they stock. Particularly, bread and rolls.

We will be staying in the Costa Adeje area, and do not wish to use valuable luggage allowance by bringing our own products.

The supermarket we normally use is Mercadona.

Any suggestions on good resturaunts who can cater for our needs. We normally eat out in San Eugenio / Porto Colon area towards Playa Fanabe / el Duque

Hope someone out there can help

Sandy & Helen

Mercadona do a lot of gluten free stuff as standard. The packaging is marked 'sin gluten'.

Gluten free

I realise you are asking for 'local', but Alcampo at La Laguna (and presumably at Puerto de la Cruz also) has a very good range of gluten free stuff. They displayed a good range of bread and rolls on our last visit.
If the luggage allowance is a bit close then it may well be worth a trip up there as you could stock up for the whole of your holiday. Without a car, getting the bus would be a problem, PM me and I could offer a couple of ideas.
Restaurants are personal choice, so it would be unfair to 'advertise' some to the detriment of others who may be offering good service and good value. But PM though and I would happily advise of two of our regular places, one on La Pinta and the other near Puerto Colon.

Please feel free to post the names if you recommend them to cater for certain food allergies It is just your personal recommendation, after all... and in no way reflects on other places.
