You can fetch as much as you like as long as you declare it. But I think without declaring its 10,000 euros

From the UK 10,000 Sterling..was the limit last time I looked at the posters up in the airport........

but be aware that you can only bank upto 3000 euros in cash in Tenerife or they might want you to account for it.

Why not make a bank transfer? Much safer and as the sale in the UK will have been fully legal with all declared (not like here in Tenerife) there is no reason to fear being questioned about the origin of the money. Some banks are offering good deposit rates for sterling too.

Thumbs up Sterling! Tenerife!!

When you leave blighty for a wonderful place like Tenerife do not leave your common sense on the aircraft steps.
Tenerife is the same as any other country in the world where there are many unscrupolous individuals that will soon part you from your cash, by deception or just theft.
There is also a lot of truly wonderful individuals of all nationalities.
You will also find that there are no floorboards to hide it under!
Do the sensible thing and do a bank transfer.
There are many good banks on the island, the interest rate is not the same as in G B but you know where it is, and not wondering everytime you go out if it will still be there when you return.
Have a great life on a great island, and keep in touch with this excellent forum.

Are you worried about the bank reporting interest to the tax authorities back in the UK? It really does not make sense to have a lot of banks, given how high the bank charges are.

Anyone banking more than 9000 Euro in any quarter is automatically normally phoned and asked what purpose the money is for and details sent on to the Tax authority's .. Its to do with money laundering .............
